I've already started networking with different locals for when things get heavy.

I'm a firefighter/EMT/Search and Rescue tech.

We have a good sized farm and such.

I've always been really wary of forums and posting but I think this would be a great thing.

I wouldn't feel the need to extend a helping hand if it weren't for all Yahweh has done for me and my family. We just want to pass it on so He will receive the glory and people fleeing the storm will have a safe place to stay!

Bad thing about inviting people to move in is getting them to leave

I have read here on GLP, that the government is putting closures, (doors) , on the caves and caverns that were/are open to the public, so they can be closed off. I might have misunderstood.

here you on that one, but the thing is if it gets to that one, won't be anywhere to leave to in the end.

Watcher, that's a mighty kind gesture on your part. I live in Wake, County and am well equipped for whatever this storm might have to offer. I just wanted to chime in to thank you for what you're offering those who may very well be in need. And also to make contact with nearby GLP'er should things go haywire down the road. It's not looking good. We should all have some like minded contacts in surrounding areas. I'm working West of Charlotte this week, staying in Gastonia. Don't know if that's close enough for a meet and greet as I'm working some pretty long days. Anyway what you're doing is very sweet and it'll come back to you, sooner or later.
