ANYONE SEE THE MOVIE ATLAS SHRUGGED - AYN RAND? ANY REVIEWS | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1201233 United States 08/18/2011 06:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just a personal suggestion if you haven't yet read the book: Forget the movie and read the book. It is unlike any other philosophical novel I've ever read. As a rule of thumb one should always read a book prior to seeing a movie adaptation. I've never known a movie to even come close to portraying the true ideology delivered in a classic book or work of non-fiction. Going to the see movie is like watching the "kiddie version" or cliff note cartoons rather than having to "suffer through" actually reading a book. I know that Americans have the right to be insufferably ignorant and mind numbingly stupid, however we really shouldn't abuse the privilege. |

Thanks for the information, I do agree that reading the book is the best way to experience a story such as this. Ayn Rand was truly a visionary... that said, did you have a chance to see the movie? -- |

Afterwards perhaps we can check back here and compare notes. Take care Jason |

I'm not sure what the boycott on the movie was, but I had to travel 70 miles to see it at an independent theater. Now I have read the book years ago, and then again prior to watching the movie. book wins hands down. But the movie (part 1) was pretty good, it followed the book. I recommend it. It definitely shadows many of today's events. |

LOL - Go look up the definition of visionary. You just contradicted your own statement. She was a visionary and helped define the ideals of the modern day. I'd suggest you review some of her interviews to really grasp the ideas she was trying to convey... it sounds like you may have some misunderstandings. --- |

Seems to me in this modern day TV could be substituted for the train allegory in Atlas Shrugged. Ayn Rand had no idea back then how crazy powerful the TV would be. The elite at all costs will struggle to keep your TV up and running, at least one in each household. |
Economic Meltdown
User ID: 1136464 United States 08/18/2011 08:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ayn Rand was a close personal friend of Alan Greenspan in real life in college. I have no doubt, the reason the book was done as well as it was, was because she heard the mind of one of the biggest PTB puppets of all time. He was recruited in or before college (they nearly all are) and he was tapped as a financial mastermind back then... and she and he shared many a day/night studying. (hmmm....) And here we are with a near perfect interpretation of how the system is working now. Coincidence? |
