LIVING WITHOUT A WORKING BATHROOM AND KITCHEN!
I have been living without a working bathroom and kitchen for the past 4 months. Bought my house back in april and started remodeling. I have the bathroom, kitchen, and master bedroom gutted so I can fix them. With all the doom was wondering how people would handle living without these conveniences. Luckly I have my travel trailer and thats were I take my showers and all my food is cooked on my grill or microwaved. I think its somthing most people don't even think about even tho indoor plumbing hasn't been around that long. Heck alot of third world countries still don't have running water. Whats your thoughts I think it will effect people in urban areas more then the rural areas.

Oh, I don't know about the rural people feeling it less than the city folks. Many rural people have a drilled well that requires an electric pump in order to get water.
No electricity means, no water.
Short of having a hand pump in good working order.. rural people will have to go to rivers and lakes with their buckets to get water, just like the city folk.

Op, the ancient Greeks and Romans had indoor plumbing. Probably just the rich people though. Then it disappeared. Don't ask me why.

Indoor plumbing is possibly the most important thing for "convenient" and sanitary living.

I'd rather have running water than the internet.

Well were I live the water wells are pretty deep around 1200 ft, and most of the people around here have gone to the solar power pumps because we lose electricity all the time.

Worst part of no running water is having to hand wash your clothes, which is a pain in the ass

LOL no it don't really bother me to much, I do think that it will be a problem for the sheeple and younger people who have never lived without it. The only thing that I hate about not having running water is having to hand wash my clothes. The outhouse is no different then the porta potties I had to use at my old job.

Like using a porta pottie in the middle of winter, did your outhouse at least keep the snow and rain out?

Then, as long as the sun can charge those solar cells, those people will have a huge advantage over the average bear! :)
