Bad Karma Good Karma... Being used in place of thread rating?
I have noticed several posters with bad Karma points... posters that I am familiar with their posting style and wondered why on Earth anyone would bad Karma them.

IMO, this is a potential problem with the Karma system... people using the Karma feature in place of the thread rating system. Using this as a way to voice disagreement or disapproval of a single thread or post seems to defeat the idea somehow.

Have I misunderstood how the Karma points are designed to be used...
or is it okay to
nutkick
for no apparent reason?

hi

Maybe the abuse of the 'karma system' will translate into real karma?

I'm gonna be careful with it.

Re: Bad Karma Good Karma... Being used in place of thread rating?
I agree OP. I have received several unpleasant ratings from people in response to a kind, loving thread I posted that was pinned from which people made assumptions about my character instead of focusing on the thread itself and using the rating buttons or just posting their disapproval on the thread.

It's quite sad actually when you think about it but then again as with any system you will always have people who use it incorrectly.

Thank you for pointing that out. I hope your thread is noticed.

Hope you don't mind.

There are quite a few new or occasional posters getting in the red for no good reason (that I can see) and this could drive some away, along with their contributions. So, I'm spending some points where seeing them needed.

The way I see it is if the person is between 50% red and 50% green they are normal run of the mill people, if they are over 50% green they are probably awesome individuals, if over 50% red they are probably assholes.

I think you bring out some very good points with your post.

And I would like to add some of my ideas also.

I think this “karma” system probably was intended for good reasons, but any system that gives people another method of judging others, or the merits of some posts and ideas over others is always going to be a problem.

It just gives people another method of trying to force others to think the same as they do.
Therefore it limits our unique and God given individuality of expressing ourselves even when trying to share our sometimes original ideas with others.

The worst part of this forum is that so many tend to think that they are expressing their intelligence when they judge others, especially by putting them down or insulting them or any other form of verbal attack.

The BEST quality of this website is that it provides a method where we can ALL share our ideas.

Some people who have more knowledge in certain areas can share their ideas with others who at the moment do not have much experience at all in those same areas, and yet by sharing the ideas it allows us all to ‘catchup’ by the information provided by the more knowledgeable poster.
That’s always a good thing.

But most importantly this idea to incorporate ‘karma points’ to GLP tends to ‘water down’ the word and real meaning of the principle of KARMA, in the minds of some who don’t realize just how important the KARMA Principle really is..

Karma is not just another word for ‘opinion’ or ‘whatever I think’.

Karma is a very important and powerful Universal Spiritual Principle created by the Creator of the Universe; God Himself.

It is intended to teach each of us, (regardless how long it may take, even countless lives) to learn to live our lives and not harm anyone else.

Jesus’ message of the Golden Rule;“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
It is a formula to remember for leaning how not to have to go through more lives (as in REINCARNATION) where one has to come back to earth and live life after life by facing similar problems that were not learned in the previous life.

KARMA is God’s total Universal Justice System, WHICH NONE OF US CAN ESCAPE.

It is a fact of life, and to not believe it has nothing to do with its reality, it just means the person not believing in it has more to learn.

This world’s “justice system” seems most often like it is just another reflection of the devil’s jokes. Its a place where we find criminals sitting in the seat of supposed ‘justice’ allowing other criminals to continue their crimes, and only punishing those with less ‘power’ or connections to be severely punished and most often for no offense at all.

At this time this is certainly a weird world, but, if we learn what KARMA really means, we can learn why it is spiritually important to us all, and also how to avoid more KARMA..
which is:

(Just more lives after this one by reincarnating over and over.)

You can't post karma more than once a week for any particular poster. I found that out by trying to do it to a certain shill. I think it will just take some experience to decide whether to 1* a thread or bad karma the poster, or both.

I'm not clear on whether AC's can post karma, though. Since they can't have the same done to them, it doesn't seem fair to let them.

No worries my friend :) I made up for the negative ones by doing some copyright notifications, LOL. I'm not worried about it, in the end it will balance out and unfortunately, I think it will likely remain negative/positive no matter what just because of the motives behind some posters.

Good for you for using your karma wisely! I think it's important to do that. Yesterday when my thread was pinned it had a green pin and I got a lot of slack for it. What people didn't realize is that the thread was pinned by another member who was spreading good karma by pinning it using their karma points. What a good random act of kindness! Now it's my job to pass on that act of kindness.

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

Sometimes folks insist you not rub salt on what are appearant wounds in their reality bubbles, I am not going to tip toe around this forum so as not to incurr bad karma points considering I figure it is the objective of this forum to tell it how it is.

In this case Bad Karma points ought to get you some privilidges, for Instance I ought to get a free pin for my 10 karma points considering the effort I placed in telling it how it is to earn them~!!

IMO the expert "evildoers" deserve +karma, the ones who know exactly how ride the herd. The AWESOME power of action-at-a-distance.
