IMO the expert "evildoers" deserve +karma, the ones who know exactly how ride the herd. The AWESOME power of action-at-a-distance. I think it's turning out to be more of a statistical signature of what the majority likes, and possibly also a way for the controllers to get deeper into the heads of the posters.
