Bad Karma Good Karma... Being used in place of thread rating?

I have noticed several posters with bad Karma points... posters that I am familiar with their posting style and wondered why on Earth anyone would bad Karma them. IMO, this is a potential problem with the Karma system... people using the Karma feature in place of the thread rating system. Using this as a way to voice disagreement or disapproval of a single thread or post seems to defeat the idea somehow. Have I misunderstood how the Karma points are designed to be used... or is it okay to  for no apparent reason? Some people don't like the glitter and unicorn types. Some people don't like this or that type... Some people don't like any type of poster that other people think is the bestest poster that ever existed EVER!... It's just the lay of the land here...see by my thinking?...I should have eleventy brazillion positive karma points by now...cause I'm the most scary brilliant thing since the guy that invented those little dealies that they put on the end of shoe laces...but I don't...why?...probably because it's a conspiracy!...or might even be that not everybody thinks that....which I am investigating as fringe low probability theory as we speak....
