Flashes of light SE Michigan, Anyone?
Last night, 8/5/11 approx. 10:30 PM EST
10 miles west of Detroit Metro airport in the western sky. Clear conditions Me and 3 witnesses saw 3 possibly 4 flashes of "white" light.
It was not discernable the altitude or distance but it appearred lower and more "local" than lighting. (lower in the horizon)
We listened for thunder to follow. NOTHING. no other flashes the remainder of the evening. It reminded me of the transformer footage from Texas posted last month.

It was not northern lights. These were extremely bright flashes. Lower than cloud level.

Did anyone else see this?

Heat lightning

You know there is no such thing as heat lighting right. This was not lighting as I mentioned in the original post.
It looked a lot like the high power strobes at concerts but on a much larger scale. Low on the horizon.

I don't think it was that. It seemed to low. It was strange though. It was three sucessive flashes. I checked to see if anyone else reported it and just curious if anyone else in the area did. GLP seems to be the best to get quick feedback.
