We just had another M9.3 Flare - All this solar activity and not one pinned sun thread?

as of right now, we have 3 inbound CME's
the first one should arrive late tomorrow Aug 4th

keep it going things are going to start happening at light speed stay alert. PS dont fight amongst yourselves.

Sun is starting to look like a gatling gun here of late. Someone ought to splice the images together in a movie from the past few months activity.

I'm no sun specialist, but when I want proof of sun claims i allways look for your confirmation.

If you say this is earth bound then I believe you.

Can anyone explain what these protons do, or don't?
I have often seen this page, but is was always completely black or a little colored.
Do I have worrie about this?

I'm no expert, but it really doesn't look earth bound to me. Looks like it has a bit of an upward component to it, which would mean it couldn't be on the plane of the solar system. Could be wrong.. but that's just my guess.

Not really true. An M flare could still produce a much larger CME than an X-class.

Go to this website and click on LASCO2.... when you have a halo like that you can bet your a$$ it`s going to hit us..if ya notice right at the end of the movie the whole screen gets peppered...thousand a specks...that is a sign of a strong flare/cme...the halo is so big there is no way possible for it to miss us...

Are some being downgraded? or the CME's have not hit for the eq effect, yet?

So because Soho orbits in front of earth, when Lasco gets peppered, we get peppered?

Think of looking down the barrel of a gun. You are seeing only the halo created from a blast. you cannot see the blast because it is POINTING AT YOU. It is within the bright, filtered, section of the image.

Earths proximity to the suns surface yesterday was as such that it had us in proximity with sunspot region 1261 when it let out the M9.3 flare that produced this CME
Earth is tiny compared to the sun, and compared to that CME
it will hit earth and be geo effective on or around Augh 6th
after 2 other CMEs hit starting today



here is a OLD sun/earth proximity alert
using this as an example to show just how small earth is to the solar surface, so when we see a CME this sized, we wil be struck

I may be wrong as to what we are seeing here. It is relative to the position of the satellite/camera. It's relation to earth is the confusing part.

Can someone confirm or deny?

I do know that the sunspots are derected at us. It is the satellite photos being in a diffrent part of space that is the trick to understanding.

Am I correct?

The latest blast at 0357 UT on August 4th registered M9.3 on the Richter Scale of Flares, almost crossing the threshold into X-territory (X-flares are the most powerful kind). Protons and particles can actually hit the earth minutes after a large solar flare...as is the case in the bold text above from spaceweather.

Wtf getting hit by two powerful CMEs at once O_O DOOOM!!!!!

2 inbound CME's. None apparent at all with the 3rd flare on Stereo anyway.

Morning NIP--I do believe 3 are heading this way...plus the coronal hole so there will be some solar winds hitting from that on the 7th or so...

I may be wrong, but that doesn't look that massive and most of it appears to hurl north, not straight out. I don't expect near the hype being put out but the solar wind speed is not high right now, and they usually slow down before hitting earth, the speed rarely remains the same at ejection time. for some reason CME's that happen with x Flares in my esperience arrive in a way considerably more wimpy than than CME's that occur without an x ray flare.


We shall see how it works out of course when they do or do not arrive, some fizzle out. Or are fizzled out by fleet. None of these are going to "fry" us at any rate, the stuff during the last max was more than any of these seem to have been.

the 2nd CMe at least according to NASAS 3d movie, goes over earth. where is the 3rd, I haven't seen it. there was a nice sized NON earth directed CME starting around 9 UTC during my night.

Time to get out the SPF 1 Billion again!!
