Perceived circles or lines are not exactly circular or straight, and true circles and lines could never be detected since by definition they are sets of infinitely small points. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 500829 United States 07/31/2011 12:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Been telling people about this for nearly a decade and so far I haven't swayed anyone really. People think that global warming is a big deal, or on a site like this, that it's all a lie. None of them get what ocean death means though. Without the ocean, we die. That simple. We either start working to fix this now, or we all die. Also that simple. Let the climate change denial start in... 3... 2... 1. :) Remember: If I'm wrong we all turn into granola eating hippies for nothing. If the deniers are wrong, everything dies. If you can't do the math on that... Well, how average of you. Most really don't get the concept. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 500829 United States 07/31/2011 09:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't know if I should laugh or cry here. People don't seem all that concerned, not even enough to deny whats happening. We need to start working together and fixing ourselves fast. No one wants it, but the serious outlook here is that we either stand up and fight against death, or we just lose. Yes, we all die, but doing it all at once just seems lazy. |

(OP) User ID: 1398844 United States 08/01/2011 02:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm sorry. I'm sorry for those who are 30 years and younger. Old folk like me (well past 65 years of age) will not see the end product of 2 centuries of capitalism and manufacturing and industry run rampant. We will not see decades upon decades of bad politics and a political system that focuses on stupid things like Can Gays Marry and Abortion when we are faced with such horrors as plastics being dumped in the ocean until there are huge 'islands' of plastic which no government cares about since not a single regulation against the manufacture of plastic has come out and no government has taken the initiative to fund a project to at least start skimming some of the plastic up. We seem to be much more worried about who is fucking who in the political spotlight, or if the president is really born in Hawaii, instead of being concerned about over fishing, leaking nuclear power plants and other really important stuff. Thanks to all of us regular folks as well, for participating in the consumption of earth destroying energy sources instead of pushing for clean, sustainable renewable, cheap energy sources. Yep, we are such an advanced society, we destroy the only thing that keeps us all alive. Something to be proud of without a doubt. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1464956 United States 08/01/2011 04:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't see it ever getting any better. The only real solution is to revert to pre-industrial civilization. And as much as I wish I had been born in simpler times, that isn't going to happen on a mass scale voluntarily. And frankly, I don't think it would be possible to support current population levels even if we all did walk out of the cities and into the woods. We could maybe slow down the inevitable by practicing conservation, but people and businesses are more worried about short-term profits than they are about long-term survival. Which brings us to all the theories about NWO population reduction, and makes them sound a lot less far-fetched. Or the theories about comets and volcanoes wiping out the humans for nature to begin anew. The reality is, that every culture in history that has found a way to live in harmony with nature has been systematically destroyed by the cultures that survive today. We can all try to do our part to try and change our society, but my faith in mankind is not very strong. Eventually, we will either be taken out by some mega disaster (either natural or manmade) or we will destroy our own habitat in the name of profit. We are living out of balance, but at some point, nature will right it, to our peril. |
