Re: Questions about the Bible.
We are meant to spread the Gospel, as for convincing people that depends whether we reply to defend the Bible in threads like this (whom try to crush peoples faith & spread lies) or if were posting in threads that dont want to hear it at all. I recommend defending the Bible, but not shoving it down anyones throat trying to convince them when a thread isnt even related.

Friend, it would appear that you missed the entire point of this thread! It is not the Bible being attacked; it is those who take a phrase or two out of context as a "proof text."

Re: Questions about the Bible.
Anyway God does say to spread the Gospel(good news), so why wouldn't you try to convince unbelievers?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1073442

As I recall we are commissioned to (1) teach, (2) disciple, (3) baptize, and (4) remember. I never read where we are to "convince," and that's because that's not in our power. Those around here who seek to "convince" usually end up pissing off everyone.

Let's stick to our job and let Him do His.

Thanks, I work directly for the Lord (he takes hard luck cases) and am told I am the least in the Kingdom, they don't get any lower, ouch, bruised my ego....good!

So my job is simple, steer folks to the Gospel, Christ's teaching is sublime.....FREE.... [link to www.e-sword.net] use the FREE included commentaries for a 2nd and 3rd opinion. Read the 4 books titled..Mathew, Mark, Luke and John, only about 120 pages out of over 1200, about 10% of the total. It is easy to start with "The Good News Bible" and progress from there to the older versions if you so desire. The Good News is like reading the Daily News Paper, easy.

Thanks for letting me do my job..a tree has many branches

hf

PS - for those asking...the 4 books are contained in the 1 book.

Bless you Brother, keep spreading the Gospel (Good News), pay no attention to mockers and scoffers for they have already been prophesied to be in the last days that we are in.

Re: Questions about the Bible.
Leviticus 26:29 - And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

Deuteronomy 28:53 - And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters.

I have a few questions:

Since I do not have children of my own, am I allowed to eat my nieces and nephews instead?

Am I allowed to hunt down and roast the children in my neighborhood?

What do you serve it with, potatoes or stuffing?
 Quoting: Dr. House

Scripture here seems to be showing us a people who, in not hearing and obeying the words and instructions of God, became so depraved that they even resort to cannibalism and eating the flesh of their own children.

peace,

Re: Questions about the Bible.
Did you ever consider this was actually in line with the things that happen periodically on earth and the fact the people of this planet have been reduced to cannibalism on at least one occasion? That was simply God giving a warning of what to expect is one possibility.

God also forbade men to eat each other so do the math.

Re: Questions about the Bible.
Those are prophesies of what will happen to the Israelites if they leave God and do not keep his laws. They were fulfilled in the accounts given in the historical books Kings and Chronicles. Also see Flavius Josephus non biblical account of the Roman siege of 70AD. The judgements of God are sword, famine, pestilence(disease, plague) and evil beasts. excuse me, if the covenant isn't kept

Interestingly enough modern Christians do not keep the Covenant.

After all look at poly-cotton blends.....
