User ID: 1361979 United Kingdom 07/23/2011 05:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are strict gun control laws in Norway. In 2009, a tough new law was adopted, which banned ownership of most firearms to most law-abiding civilians. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1477534You can legitimately ask yourself : does this approach really work ? In the recent Norwegian shooting, which killed about 80 people, there was only one guy who had weapons, a guy who was a farmer/hunter, and who was part of the small minority of people allowed to own guns. If Norway was more like Texas and Florida, where many people have guns, would this really have happened ? If some of the camp guards had guns, they could have easily taken out the shooter in no time. And that would have been the end of the story. But it wasn't. Because of the gun control mentality, the killer was able to exploit a defenseless population that had no guns. Think about this the next time somebody advocates for gun control. Tell him about this horrible massacre. Guns are supposed to kill criminals. They are not supposed to help criminals kill people. and you seriously think that all and sundry being allowed guns would avert any situation? Think again, Wild West comes to mind here! I thank God there are not more places like Texas and Florida. Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1477534 Canada 07/24/2011 01:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to americanandproud.net] As the death toll continues to rise in Norway’s apparently related bombing and shooting attacks, a few truths are once again revealed for any who would see: ■Unarmed victims are defenseless and easy prey for any evil lunatic bent on slaughtering them at will. The adults at the youth camp were utterly unprepared to protect themselves, let alone their charges. ■People instinctively don’t question an armed man if he appears to be a police officer. Many of the same people react with horror at the sight of an armed citizen. ■The best defense against an active shooter is others with guns—it was not the unarmed who took the suspect into custody. ■Once more, “gun control” has proven useless. Many reports, if accurate, say the gunman used “automatic weapons,” which, except for some tightly regulated collector exemptions, are banned from civilian ownership in Norway. ■Once more, the race is on to tar an entire demographic for the actions of a deranged and monstrous individual, and to conflate “conservatives” with violent extremists. |

Quoting: Halcyon Dayz, FCDIt allowed this guy to own guns. You stupid mother fuckers are all the same. You think that if you make EVERYTHING ILLEGAL you can stop evil people. Drugs in the U.S. are illegal, and we have never had a worse drug problem. Unless you can rid the world of evil, laws will never stop evil. I bet some of you would opt in for living in a bubble in total safety. Never having to worry about the SCARY WORLD. You would be the people to take it in the ass everyday as long as you can feel safe in your weak minds. |

Reports said he handguns, a shotgun and "automatics". I would think handguns and automatics would be hard to get in Norway. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1400433I will throw this in too. He killed what 80 people on that island. SO that is 80 rounds of ammo. I doubt he got everyone with only on shot. So to be real, it prob took around 4 shots to 1 kill. Now your at 320 rounds of ammo. If you throw in multiple guns that gets pretty heavy and pretty much B.S. Ever seen someone carry 300 shotguns shells. Ever carried 10 thirty round ar 15 mags What about 7.62 Three 100 round drums sure are not light. All this ammo and this guy got on an island and went on a rampage for hours. All this gear, weight and he was able to kill tons of people and move like air. No one could find him or stop him. Just think about it. Some of you anti-gun people think that guns load themselves and ammo is light as a feather. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1273752 Netherlands 07/24/2011 07:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If many people have guns, somebody just needs to rethink the attack and use automatic rifles, places to hide behind and maybe grenades. All you do with allowing guns is that police need bigger guns, shoot much quicker, and these attacks are done with heavier weapons. |
