I was in Arkansas last summer living 20 min from the Missourri border, where I was at my outside thermometer got up to 121..we were putting up the pool and about to die it was so damn hot..so I think this is not so abnormal really..

OMG..121..I mean..how hot does it get in Africa? That is really insane!

You have to be really careful in this heat..jump in the pool!
 Quoting: Lady Ivory

Yeah but again, there is no way that was actual air temperature. 121 is fucking hot.

Average U.S. temperature increases by 0.5 degrees F

According to the 1981-2010 normals to be released by NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) on July 1, temperatures across the United States were on average, approximately 0.5 degree F warmer than the 1971-2000 time period.

"The climate of the 2000s is about 1.5 degree F warmer than the 1970s, so we would expect the updated 30-year normals to be warmer," said Thomas R. Karl,

Heat Warning (feels like 105-108 this afternoon). 4th of July weather preview for the Twin Cities

Excessive Heat Warning posted for Hennepin and Ramsey Counties today: highs in the mid to upper 90s coupled with a predicted dew point of 75-80 will make it feel like 105-108 by late afternoon. The risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke will be significant later today. Take it easy out there.

Guam, With Lakes. The "low" temperature (minimum reading) may not drop below 80 F. in the downtowns tonight.

When I was younger I recall a few times experiencing 100 degree temps here in Indiana. It's been years so aren't we due? I mean, isn't it just the cyclical way of weather patterns? I don't think it necessarily means something omnibus is going on.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 286213

Yes, but look at the whole picture here. We aren't the only ones getting the heat wave. The main focus is northern Canada near the Arctic. The lowest temp next week is 30 degrees and that is WAY up there.

Re: WE HAVE ANOTHER RECORD, PEOPLE! THIS NEXT FEW DAYS OF DEADLY WEATHER-Coming to your area soon!
In northern fl. we have had 102 degree heat for several weeks. Yesterday we hit the mid 80's due to cloud cover. We also got 3 inches of rain a couple days ago. That was the first rain in 6 months, and it was several months before the last rain. We have been dealing with heat and fires for months here.

I don't remember the last time I was so excited to see a gutter washer since there is always cleanup to do afterwards, but this time I was actually dancing in the rain. Weather patterns are afu and most of the nasty stuff has pushed into midwest since last year. I will not say what is causing it, but I wonder if all the storms were really just natural occurrences?

I grew up in Mo. and never heard of thunder snow.

Tornados on new years day?

Consistent tornados all year long.

Record rainfall in most places.

Upstream lakes allowed to fill over winter and spring without releasing water dependent on snowpack?

Now the army corp of enginesmears are telling Mo not to release water from lake ozark dam.

WTF? is it possible to have this many natural disasters in such a short time?

Is it possible to have this many retarded people telling the dam operators what to do with such obvious disregard for public safety?

NO it is not.

If you don't "Believe" in weather modification you are not with the times. The military has had the tech for a while and there is more than weather mod possible. I have to think this is engineered not chance. Too many phenomenon have occurred in a short time for this to be chance. I would not be living in the midwest along any river valley right now if I had a choice. Good luck St. Louis!

This hurricane season will be very interesting, time will tell. Florida is going to be DAMN hot the next couple weeks, I see solid time periods of the entire state around 100 degrees +

Startling Report About Global Clinate in 2010.
According to the full report, 2010 was indeed one of the two warmest years on record globally going back to 1880 as confirmed by 3 major independent datasets.

Some of the key indcators:

--Arctic temperatures are rising twice the rate of lower latitudes.
--Average global sea surface temperature was 3rd warmest on record, despite the usual cooling influence of La Nina the second half of 2010.
--Sea levels continued to rise.
--Last year had the 3rd lowest Arctic sea ice extent on record.
- Greenland ice sheet lost more mass in 2010 than at any time in the past ten years

This is nuts. We are going to experience over 107 degree heat here in Missouri..in all my 49 years..NEVER have I seen it that hot..ever! That means the heat index will be in Microwave Popcorn mode. Look..back at the beginning of June, we had record breaking heat, and this tops that! Something isnt right guys..

Fourth of JULY is gonna be a killer, man. Im going to have to be naked just to sit outside to watch fireworks..with a bucket of ice..look..

[link to www.medicinenet.com]

I expect some sickness from this wave..Hyperthermia -- when the body's core temperature soars dangerously high -- is the most severe form of heat-related illness and comes with noticeable symptoms.

"You can have a change in mental status, a person is not acting right or they don't make a lot of sense, they appear a little incoherent," said Dr. Benson
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some places in Texas are over 110 degrees..this is SHake N Bake, man!
[link to tscra.org]
Rolling Plains: Temperatures were 110-115 degrees for several days
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It looks like Umerica isnt the only place experiencing this..UK has had its share as well,
Britain breathed a sigh of relief today as temperatures began to cool after yesterday's record-breaking heatwave.

For several hours it was thought that the new record had been set by Charlwood, near Gatwick, which recorded 36.3C (97.3F).

My British friends tell me, this is unheard of.

Our lil blue planet is going through some major changes..

This is not normal, folks..I cant say its HAARP related..I get a little offed by these Haarp people, this is going on world wide. Is it the sun? I dont know..but I do know its definitely a record year, for many things!

Floods, storms, earthquakes, and now heat? Not to mention giant holes opening up around the world..is the earth imploding?
