Let's say you're recording a police officer doing his business and he gets uppity about you not filming him. How do you respond (legally)?

Allegedly it is legal to film a police officer. So what do you do when confronted by one of them?

Is there any way to come out of the encounter with no legal consequences and your film in tact?

What do you tell them?

just say that you are a witness and you are videotaping the incident for evidentiary purposes only. You will provide the videotape for evidentiary purposes if the defendant ever alleges anything improper by the officers.

that you are merely aiding them and helping them.

that ought to confuse them.

I would lie and tell him the vid is live streaming.

If it's already at the point where the officer is confrontational that should cool them off a bit.

If not you are screwed.

i agree just say you are filming for evidencial reasons, tell em that you are doing it to solve an disputes that may arise in court, tell em they have nothing to worry about if they are doing what they are supposed to

Tell him, "sorry, but you're in public, there's nothing illegal about filming something in public. That's what you guys tell us!!! "

That should baffle him some, but if he persist, then walk away. Film from a distance...

This world has always been run by force or the threat of force. While people want to believe that we live in a civilized society, that is only a veneer.

People need to be smart in their interactions with the representatives of the various systems. One way to be smart, is to avoid needless confrontations.

May I suggest that people watch the Mel Gibson movie "The Patriot"? I like that movie a great deal and there is wisdom in it for a person who looks for it. Never chose a confrontation that you can't win or is really meaningless in the bigger picture.

In the movie "Saving Private Ryan", the Sgt is telling his troops not to shoot at the enemy unless there are at least 5 of them in a group. He was telling them not to waste their limited ammo on small threats. The same thing applies here.

Furthermore, if you have verbal skills, you just might educate the officer. One educated police officer is one less person on the NWO's side.

How has the Paparazzi gotten away with it for so long then??

You tell him he should have payed attention at school, as filming in public is legal. Then you tell him: it's that you are an officer, otherwise I would have called you an asshole.

When he still keeps on annoying you, make a citizen's arrest.

Use the law in your advantage.

Some of these people are just looking for a fight in the way they are approaching the recording of police activities.
Lots of crossfire going on.. good cop, bad cop. investigative reporter, instigating reporter.

its almost like guerrilla warfare. if you know the game is rigged, then why play by the rules. you just have to be smarter then they are and keep your whits about you.

You could say that you are with the local news media. And after that, say nothing. Remain silent, and maybe they will give you some money for attacking you.

Don't let them know you are filming. If enough folks were discreetly filming the cops and putting the video on youtube, the cops would eventually assume they are always being filmed.
