I am going to build an ALTAR today in my room, and i'm going to rearrange my room according to Feng Shui. HELP ME!

Just rearrange your room the way you like it. All that Feng Shui crap doesn't mean anything.

A lot of homes in Japan had feng shui and altars...didn't seem to work that great for them.

i don't believe in any new age stuff. i don't think this is new age. i do believe that rearranging your room to allow the energy to flow more freely is important, and in fact crucial to your well-being. i haven't rearranged my room in almost two years. i need to. what better way than to do so correctly employing the cardinal points =)

Good grief! If you want to Fung Shei your room or altar, pick up a book on fung shei. Or go to the library. Or do a Google search.

You have to arrange your room so that positive energy is directed toward you. You shouldn't have a mirror in your room as this draws the energy to it. Never point your bed in the direction of the door or windows. But th whole premise is to draw positive energy toward you in the most direct route, and leave items out that capture light as the energy is drawn to it. I don't really believe this stuff just read about it.

Totally agree! Feng shui is BS. Arranging the room the way you like it and feel comfortable in is the only way to go.

And feng shui is definitely a new age woo. It was taken from Asian culture where it was completely different concept of living and turned into something that you hire so called feng shui consultants for and buy magazines with feng shui arrangements of living space.

I used to think Feng Shui was hooey but after seeing some remarkable tranformations based on it, I think there may be something to it. Not in a "woo woo" sense but in the sense of bringing surroundings into a a configuration that is pleasing to the human psyche on a subtle level.

You do need a book or something but to get started, first get rid of clutter. Feng Shui does not work in clutter!

There's no science behind this malarky. It's been proven time and time again that its all nonsense.

The only energy benefit you're going to get out of this is a sense of accomplishment of a "new" room. That will wear off just as soon as you get used to it.

I suggest you remove your head from your ass and just do whatever it is that you want, you'll feel better about yourself and wont have to worry about being a toolbag either.

OP is the alter dedicated to yourself or a deity? Seriously,from your first post it sounds like you are trying to worship yourself. Also, your novice attempt to control ore reorder the energy in you your home is "New Age" even if you don't understand that. You are attempting to use a smorgasbord of imported Eastern religious philosophies to improve your life. That is basically the New Age in a nut shell. You got these ideas from the media and people that reject western society and Christianity. In short you are most likely a self hating (Western culture hating) white liberal but you probably don't realize it.

The altar is a good idea, it sounds lovely. Feng Shui really works. Anytime there's a problem or blockage in my life or others, I look round and see that the area of the room representing that part of life is cluttered!
You can do it without books. Just stand in front of the door, facing inwards, and pretend you are energy flowing into the room (like a river of fast-moving white smoke). The energy will circle the room and go back out again. Is its path blocked? (a heavy bookcase in the middle of the room, maybe). Does it shoot through too fast and straight out through a window facing the door? (if so, hang wind chimes in between door and window to slow it down, otherwise your life will move too 'fast', as well; eg, as soon as money comes in, you'll spend it).
The foot of your bed facing a door isn't ideal...you may wake up tired, as your own energy is flowing out of the door. (Windows are easier to adapt; you can use curtains, and they have less energy rushing in than the door does). If the bed can't be moved, you can slow the movement of energy a bit by hanging windchimes, or placing a screen or something in between the bed and the door.
Any problematic areas in your life can be improved by encouraging the energy to linger and circulate in those parts of the room. When you stand at the door looking into the room, the farthest left-hand corner away from you is 'money' (ie, if you imagine you're standing at the door, 'North', and facing the opposite wall, 'South', then the money corner is the South East. (the actual compass direction doesn't matter, it just makes visualising it easier). Energy is attracted to movement and life, and it gets blocked and stagnant where there's clutter. Good things to put in the money area are plants and all round things (ie, coin shaped! :)).
The far right corner represents relationships: here you want red objects, hearts, a picture of a happy couple, etc. Don't put a picture here of a girl standing alone under a bare tree, unless that's what you want from your love life, lol! Hope some of this helps...

I like the book "The Western Guide to Feng Shui" I'm pretty sure that's the title and it has a companion volume "Feng Shui Room by Room".

The thing about Feng Shui, and most other things, is not to take it too seriously, just have fun with it, my attitude is, what can it possibly hurt? Answer, nothing, it can't possibly hurt anything to play around with it, and if it gets you thinking of things in different ways and trying new things, then that's good.

A lot of it is basic common sense, don't have things that you could hit your head on, or that you could trip over, or that could fall on you.

And don't sit with your back to the door of your office. It's common sense.
