Stranger and stranger...

The link is down for the National Weather Service observations at FORT PECK DAM.

It's 2+ feet above its maximum pool level.

Very safe to assume that its never been subjected to this level of sheering forces. I read somewhere that the 1938 failure was caused by only 1 foot above its maximum pool level.

And, with all the weather over the region together will the still melting mountain snow; the pool level seems likely to continue to rise much further putting even more stress on the dam. Stresses that the dam was never designed to handle.

OK fair enough...but stresses that the dam was never designed to handle. Sorry I disagree.

It was a quiet day, Sept.22, 1938, and work on the dam was going at a rapid pace. The dam had been completed just two weeks before, but there was murmuring among some of the men that something was wrong with the dam. ///


"Suddenly, the earth started shaking, dredge pipes and railroad tracks started shifting and sinking and a massive section of the dam swung out into the upstream as if a great earthen gate hinged on the east abutment. Machinery and men alike were swallowed up in the moving, muddy hell and 5 million cubic yards of earth slid out into the Missouri River, forming its own island. Eight men lost their lives, and six are still buried somewhere in the dam. Some who lost friends in the slide consider the dam a large gravestone for those men whose bodies were never recovered. Word spread through the area quickly that the "dam was going to give," and people packed belongings quickly and headed for higher ground."

Technically, it already failed once due to what the board claimed, was "due to the fact that the shearing resistance of the weathered shale and bentonite seams in the foundation was insufficient to withstand the shearing forces to which the foundation was subjected."

Sure they made it stronger after that 1st failure, but how much stronger? And, as to the original design. Most likely it was only designed to hold the maximum pool level. Hence the term maximum. Given the fact that many camping sites will remain flooded till the water drops at least 5 feet from present levels, its a good bet that noone on the design team ever expected the dam to actually be required to hold at the maximum level for any length of time.

The deeper the water gets, the more pressure is exerted at its base, the more sheering forces its base is subjected to.

The longer the pressure is applied, the weaker the dam becomes as its foundation is penetrated and lubricated.

First came the floods and then the Dust Bowl which came in together with the Great Depression of the 1930s...

Did not consider it, but this dam breaking could CRASH THE STOCK MARKET given the wide spread destruction to lives and property. It would be like a knife carving the heart out of the USA.

Dredge, pipeline and booster unit placing fill in dam - This dredge and booster unit pushing a stream of water and mud into the dike section with a minimum lift of over 200 ft. Pipeline 28 in. in diameter - dredge placed over 41,000 cubic yards of material in dam one day this week. Four dredges, four booster units and four land car boosters place earth fill in the dam every day of the dredging season. Over 20,000,000 cubic yards of fill placed last year. 4-30-36

This means that if the Dam breaks it will wash out quickly dumping the contents of its 134-mile-long reservoir downstream in one massive tsunami!


Large cities and nuclear power plants could be washed away in the blink of an eye!

4 out of 5 of the DAM Cams are pointing towards the stars? I wonder why? It's not just one location.

If someone wanted to plant explosives in the dam for a covert false-flag event, they sure as hell would not want DAM CAMS seeing their every move.
