Re: *** Federal Judge Prohibits Prayer at Texas Graduation Ceremony ***
The judge declared that the Schultz family and their son would “suffer irreparable harm” if anyone prayed at the ceremony.
 Quoting: Comedian

"Irreparable harm"??? WTF does this mean??? Under the law??? Is the law written to "harm" citizens???? We need to audit these federal judges. They're completely driven by agenda... implementing policy from the bench.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1394053

This judge has just displayed manifest incompetence and should be immeditely and permanently removed from the bench, and started on a regime of anti-psychotic drugs before he harms himself or others.
 Quoting: Comedian

I just can't imagine ANY COMPETENT JUDGE uttering those words to anyone in their court. The law is built upon a clear use of language. The statement is clearly intended to intimidate.

Now, I can see him saying something to the effect that there could be serious consequences... but to state definitively that there would be HARM?? Like you said... the meds aren't working.

The federal judge ruled correctly....the 1st amendment does not allow the secular state to promote religion...this case is one of hundreds filed since the 1960's...all going down the chute. Do you people never read?
 Quoting: Elsabiades

^ More government school illiteracy regarding the 1st Amendment ^

Speaking of reading, cite the 1st Amendment for us, will you?
 Quoting: Comedian

I've committed it to memory...regardless, the United States Supreme Court has ruled, time and time again, that institutions and buildings which were created with "state" funds cannot promote nor contenence religion....the Establishment Clause does not allow the secular state to engage in non-secular practices..the Founder's of this Country..more specifically Jefferson..desired to build a wall between Church and State...thus, the first amendment.
 Quoting: Elsabiades

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Where does it say separation????? That was some idiot judge's "interpretation"

No goddamn prayer in public forum. If they wanna pray, then do it aside with select group, but not during or part of ceremony.

End of discussion.

"...no law..." means congress cannot inact ANY law nor measure which would, in any way, promote ANY religion...thus, the Courts have interpreted this to mean that where tax dollars are appropriated to build any structure; no religious reference may be made...all 50 states have adopted the first amendment into their respective constitutions...the united states is a secular government...non-sectarian...and so are the states...you may exercise your religion anyway you wish...but, religion cannot be acknowledged in a public edifice built with tax payer money.

It's a fact that after the 10 Commandments were taken down off the school halls, crime statistics showed an increase in crime and all sorts of bad behavior, including bad manners. Education in the schools has dropped to a mere shadow of what it was.

You like the world we are now living in with its hard drugs, sex, and porn occupying the minds of the MINDless? Of course, you can't remember a time when people didn't lock their doors at night, were responsible, walked the streets without fear, and raised their kids to be decent adults.
.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1412798

I certainly do remember that time. When I was in elementary school (late 60's- mid 70's) We had no air conditioning and would sleep with doors and windows open. I used to walk to and from school (3/4 mile) from 1st to 8th grade. What parent now would allow their young child to walk to school by themselves??? Our neighborhood now abuts the school property and when my 6yr old starts 1st grade in August, she is riding the bus!

For a country that was founded upon Judeo-Christian values to slowly and methodically erode those values, is certainly asking for judgement.

Seriously, brother, I think it's a "chicken or the egg" kind of question... In some serious way, I think liberalism substitutes a human need for defining a "higher" order or good, for those who won't serve or allow for G-d. Over the centuries much good has come from those who doubt and question, of course. But the ultimate goal of this philosophy is gratification and service to the SELF... the good aspects of knowledge were turned inward. The age of enlightenment brought about utopian concepts that became the basis for self worship.

It means that "congress" and/or the legislature cannot pass any measure/law which establishes any religion or prohibiting a person (like China and Russia of old) from exercising religion....This is an admonition against the state from prohibiting or passing legislation which promotes....a restraining order.
