Are Humans Meant To Be Naturally Monogamous?
Are humans designed to be monogamous biologically or is it a social construct?

Men obviously aren't geared to monogamy. Women aren't either, but they believe movies, TV and magazines.

So true! It's sickening that in this country a man can't have more than one wife at a time. This is why men have affairs on the side, in secret. Society won't allow us alpha males to have more than one wife. Someday that will change when the religitards are all dead and gone.

If it was natural for us there wouldn't be adultery. At least not on the scale that happens. Orgies were considered fairly normal back in the day then the whole marriage thing came along and ruined it.

Yeah.... I'm not so sure about that. I agree that men tend to be more polygamous than females, but if you think its religion that is preventing polygamy, I think you're mistaken.

Most STRONG, FEMINIST women would not allow themselves to be in a polygamist relationship. Why would a woman ever want to feel like her husband needs another woman to keep him happy???

It's more along the lines of everyone for everyone really not just women for men. Although I know a girl at work who's fine with polygamy because there would be less work around the house for her to do in such a case.

It would be nice to have a little extra help around the house. As long as there were multiple husbands, too, that might work. When a husband rotates to another wife, another husband takes his place rotating from the last wife.

No one said it was for everyone. If you are a feminist woman, then marry ONE man who is loyal to you, or be a lesbo like so many feminists are.

And, yes RELIGION plays a big role. Laws don't get changed without a stamp of approval from the religious right. Just try to get the law changed in the USA, go ahead. Sure, there are polygamous relationships in the USA, but they are ILLEGAL!

People don't get married as much these days.
People just fuck around.

Man fucks many women.
Woman fucks many men.

It's not adultery when you don't get that piece of paper. So most people don't get that piece of paper nowadays.

Yes, but most of those polygamist relationships were founded through religion. FLDS as a major example. Is this a case of chicken or egg?

But NOT through mainstream religion. Mainstream religion, a very strong force in the USA, is opposed to anything but a ONE MAN / ONE WOMAN policy. The FLDS wields no power outside of Utah.

Re: Are Humans Meant To Be Naturally Monogamous?
No. They're not.

There are 2 biological/physiological indicators.

1- human females remain "in season" on the whole, year round.

2- (may seem graphic) the shape of the male organ and the action required for ejaculation.

the head of the male organ is equipped with a scoop, the in and out thrusting action *that doesn't produce semen, prior to ejaculation, coupled with that scoop are to pump/scoop free the seed of human male rivals. in = squishes the rivals seed up and back. out = scrapes the birth canal free of substances/semen prior to mating.

science has shown this is what the thrusting action for several minutes before ejaculation increases the chances of the most recent mate's seed gaining purchase.

human sperm is highly advanced and aggressive too.

monogamous creatures possess neither the tools, technique or the cycle as creatures equipped like human males and females.

Chimps are the human's closest relative and they are a highly promiscuous and sexualyl active species including masterbation, incest, hand copulation, and orgies.

Humans and chimps are natural sluts. The sperm is to prevail where there is no fidelity among mates in the species.

No, but attitudes won't change as long as their is judgement, the idea of 'sin', and lack of respect for each other.

the legalization of polygamy will save civilization and the sanctity of marriage.

In the meantime there will be decades of marriage strikes and bastards all around.

And the lack of children.

Legalization of polygamy will save the civilization of human and usher in a new order.

You would feel like crap, but then you leave them. Run not walk. That's a serious 'it's really really over' sign. What ever you do, do not hang on for them. It's done.

Move on and don't even bring the matter up to dating prospects. Seriously. Nobody wants the loser that was cheated on.

Re: Are Humans Meant To Be Naturally Monogamous?
This is ridiculous.

No, humans are not naturally monogamous. That seems obvious. But there are a lot of natural things we resist. Our ability to do so shows a certain will power that most other species do not display. So, why not exercise a little self control? I, personally, find it gratifying, but I won't criticize you if you'd rather not.

Yes, certain religions oppose polygamy, but saying that mainstream religion always opposes it is ridiculous. Islam is widely followed and allows for polygamy. Of course, in America in particular, yes, mainstream religion does discourage it. That said, the religious right is allowed to have say in the government because it is democratic. They are not an overruling force which must be consulted, they are simply supported by many and thus, have a strong voice. Religion is not inherently bad, despite the views of some of the participants in this conversation.

Polygamy is not illegal. Multiple partner marriages are illegal. You can have as much sex with as many people as you want. So go do it.

"Legalizing" polygamy (IT ALREADY IS) would not save the human race. We already have a rising population. Monogamy does not threaten the human race or society (so far, at least, and I challenge you to find real evidence to the contrary) and The structure of many relationships is based on monogamy: a display of commitment and loyalty to your partner. Many people see a marriage as a bond between two people only; they are allowed to have that view and you cannot say otherwise. They want the same commitment from their partner as they are putting into it, so if they want to be monogamous, they deserve a monogamous partner, and if their partner does not want to be monogamous, they should split.

This is all a matter of preference, and sure, it's discouraged by society, but no one is actually going to stop you from doing it. So fuck. Live free. Shut up. Stop pointing fingers. Move on.

I did this all in one draft without re-reading. I'm sure there are mistakes or logical holes. So go ahead, point them out; I'd be happy to debate with you, because if there's one thing we can be certain of, it's the fact that I'm right. ;) s226
