With all these connections being made about incoming cosmic rays, extreme particles and Cherencov etc.. it makes me wonder what the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer 2 (AMS-02) is really measuring when it finally becomes attached to the ISS. The space shuttle launch was yesterday. Here's the Wiki link to AMS-02: [ link to en.wikipedia.org] I wish I had the foundational knowledge to understand all this... but gotta start somewhere I suppose :) Well, to put it simply, that package they sent up is picture perfect to detect most of the types of high energy radiation that are being discussed her, and give substantial information about them.
