Anonymous Coward User ID: 1276620 Canada 05/01/2011 01:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I work for Panago Pizza here in B.C. Average tip for our drivers is $3.00. We work for an hourly wage. Out of our $3.00 delivery fee the driver gets $1.25. So all and all it's not a bad paying job IF your vehicle is relatively inexpensive to maintain, it is fuel effecient, you don't get any traffic fines, and you have a good insurance rate for your vehicle (we have to buy extra delivery insurance) So please tip if your service was good. For us drivers if we have to drive a short distance, then it's not a bid deal if we don't get much of a tip. If we have to drive out of town and meet an arrogant customer who doesn't tip then ya, we will be in no hurry to get back to your place again. We do at times push an order back if it is a long drive and no tip is involved. Sometimes we will wait until another order comes up so that we can take what we call "a double". Two orders together. So we know we'll at least get one tip. Another much appreciated gesture is to be ready for the order so we don't have to wait to long. We are usually very busy and time is money for us. Thanks for the support! It really is an interesting job. Not the most Glamour-as job out there but it's great to be able go out and meet some interesting people and have some fun. It's not a boring job. |

Average tip was probably $1.80 or so - would have been a lot higher but blacks NEVER tip. |

kwohlf User ID: 54291646 United States 02/12/2014 10:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I work at Domino's Pizza as a manager, and you should see what all of those in-town miles do to the delivery worker's cars. That's what the compensation is for. It's because they're using their own cars, which does a lot of damage to them. It's also a fairly dangerous job. Drivers need to frequently deliver to the sketchier parts of town and we've even had an instance in which our driver was mugged. He was beaten up and given a concussion, all so that some college kids could get their pizza for free and steal the $20 the driver had on him. Which is, of course, why drivers never have more than $20 on them. Because they get mugged. There is a delivery fee, but that's used to help the store cover part of the driver's gas, not a gratuity tip given to the driver. I tip at least #5 every time, and more if it's an expensive order. This also applies to any other workers in the service industry, I always tip well. And if the order is later than usual, it's not because they were taking their sweet time to get it to you, it's because we're busy. Sometimes, we have a screen full of orders that takes inside workers 40 minutes to get through, between making the pizzas, answering phones, tending the ovens and other work. Similarly, sometimes we have more orders that need to go out than drivers, and the drivers need to take several runs with them, or else take some as quickly as they can and then come back for more. If you're ordering during a lunch or dinner rush and decide not to tip because your order took longer than 30 minutes to get there, that's a little bit ridiculous. We're always doing the best we can to get you your food quickly, and 40 minutes during the busiest parts of the day is normal. We also take extra precautions to make sure that your order is as fresh and warm as possible. Something else I need to say: please, always answer your phone. It's not uncommon that a driver needs to return to the store with an order because nobody answered the door for them and they tried to call the customer, but their call wasn't answered. I've had to placate some very angry customers who were wondering where their food was because the driver tried to contact them but wasn't able to, either because the phone number or address was incorrect, or because the customer couldn't hear the driver when they arrived. |

Nobody at the Domino's store I work at has ever done anything bad to the food of bad-tippers. But yes, the drivers know exactly which addresses frequently don't tip and which ones tip well, and sometimes they adjust their service accordingly. |
