Re: I survived an F-4 tornado
I seen the after effects of an F-5 once that struck rural Alabama.

It's peeled the pavement off the road for about 1/4 mile, laid all the trees down flat like toothpicks and turned a 3 story house upside down, so that the foundation was sticking straight up in the air. Oddly enough, the house wasn't destroyed, just flipped upside down.

I remember thinking what unbelievable power it must have took to do such a thing.

Tornado's are no joke. If you see one, take cover.

THAT is AWFUL! F-4 (we were in that ) has winds of 170 mph; an F-5 would be even worse!
Thank you for putting that on this thread; take care!
But now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.

Actually that day, I was pretty sure I was going to die and I recited the Lord's Prayer. I bought an afghan type blanket a few weeks after and it has The Lord's Prayer on it
...it is something I really treasure. Another neat thing: I found a cross out in my yard that was not mine; it's pewter colored I would say 8 inches or so. I keep it on my night stand. I also found a little paper round circle cardboard thing in the dirt and it says "Prevail" but I believe the torn/dirty part of it says " God Will..." I keep it by my bed as well in a drawer. XOXOhf

Re: I survived an F-4 tornado
This is the second anniversary of the Good Friday, 2009 tornado event that rocked Middle Tennessee.

My husband and I had been out to lunch that day as we were both off from work. We had not had the radio or TV on all morning and didn't know there were tornado warnings...we got back from our lunch and it looked cloudy but not anything out of the ordinary. All of a sudden we lost power and there was a really quiet, eerie feeling that I can't quite describe. I heard what I thought to be thunder in the distance but it didn't "breathe" between claps like most thunder does and I said to my husband " They say a tornado sounds like a train...should we get in the closet?"

We didn't though right at that time, because he went into the living room and watched our roof blow off. It was hailing inside our house! I was in the back of the house and remember the windows imploding ...thick pink insulation was blowing down from the attic and I remember thinking it looked like pink snow.
Crashes and destruction were going on all through the house; half of our house was caved in, the piano turned over , the china cabinet knocked down...I was looking for my pet cats and found one running down the hall; I put her in the closet. WE ended up in the back of the house and it was so badly demolished that we had to get out through a window after the tornado was over.

The entire neighborhood looked like a war zone. I saw people crying, a dog running by, soon we heard sirens. Two people less than 100 yards from us were killed and they were the two victims; it was a miracle more people were not killed in this storm.

Our pets came out of it safe and sound, we have a new home now...I am grateful for the 20 years I had at my other beloved home and thankful to have the many blessings I have.

There was an angel statue on the front porch that was found in the rubble that was unbroken and it stands in my front yard today. My faith has been strengthened and my goal in life is to help as many as possible, both people and animals. Thank you for reading my story.

Your story is bullshit in my opinion.

No backwater hayseed in Tennessee has a piano in their trailer, let alone a fucking china cabinet.

You obviously didn't see the neighborhoods that were hit. VERY nice areas. That's one reason the death count wasn't higher than it was. The house where the people got killed really had no chance. They took a direct hit and had no basement. It was a mother and her 9 week old baby. They had strapped the baby into her carseat to try to help protect her as much as possible. Sadly, it wasn't enough.

I use to live in the midwest and we were always having tornado warnings....it was really, really scarey!

Once the tornado went right over home and tore up a field right next to us....we were hiding the the closet under the stairs because we didn't have a basement. And, I'll never forget the sound.....very eerie!!

Glad that you made it out safe and that your life is now restored!!!
