Funny you say that. my b-i-l is an aircraft mechanic. a few years back he told me "watch, in a few years, planes will literally start falling out the sky"

i hadn't thought of that until now. he says all the hardcore mechanical stuff is now outsourced to mexico and singapore...nothing but light maintenance mainly going on now at the big airliners. and he says that the regs in mexico and singapore are NOT up to par with safety requirements here. he predits more and more problems like these...this was about 3-4 years ago (about the time the delta mechs were on strike).
