Really? mean if the water is bad, then the plants and animals die, right? Then we die.

Whats the point?

Particulate contaminants, yes; depending on the micronic efficiency of the filter. Will not restore irradiated water. Need to distill the water to do that, and then you have the radiation contaminants to dispose of, deal with....

I found this press Release On a Radiation Remover

Radioactive Removal Press Release For April 8, 2011

Total Radioisotope Aqua Purifier (The Rad Trap)

Loprest Water Treatment Company now offers a countertop cartridge filter capable of removing radioactive particles from drinking water. The cartridge filter uses a unique blend of filter medias, including zeolites and ion exchange polymers, that selectively remove radioactive isotopes from drinking water whether they are naturally occurring or from decay products of man-made nuclear fuels.

The cartridge includes a media that specifically removes Iodine 131, another for Cesium 137 and another for Strontium 90. These isotopes are retained within the filter cartridge, keeping the consumer from ingesting even minute radioactive particles, well below the maximum contaminant level (MCL) allowed by the federal EPA. The cartridge media also removes other contaminants including suspended solids, chlorine and organics.

Loprest Water Treatment makes filtration equipment for the removal of Arsenic, Chrome VI, Iron, Manganese and Nitrate from groundwater sources. Please visit our website for additional details www.loprest.com

I called them and they said the product will be available this week

I am a distributor for the Rad Trap and will be getting an order in soon, hopefully next week. We are taking inquiries on our website if you are interested in getting a notification when they are available for sale. I am working on getting a link on the NuWater Concepts (Loprest) website for individual orders. They are being swamped with orders right now. Reverse Osmosis would remove most but not all.

The only way to be sure is distillation. But then you have to worry about how to dispose of what doesn't go over the condenser to the other side.

Re: SERIOUS QUESTION. ... Does a water filter remove radiation from water?
i cannot see how reverese osmosis Can decontaminate water poluted with radiation if the fine filter in the reverse somosis allows water molucules to pass through radiation particles which Must be smaller must pass too maybe distillation If radiation particles are heavy may stay in the botom as for filters no way If it was that easy why would they have dumped so much condaminated water in the pacific?

i have no education aa such But what i believe maybe the best solution is Clay it will take over 800 years for clay mixed in a glass of water for all the clay to settle on the bottom so its got to be so fine maube fine enough to filter EVERYTHING OUT including radiation anyclay left in the water can be revoved with many filters

i may be totally wrong as usuall of course

Re: SERIOUS QUESTION. ... Does a water filter remove radiation from water?
You probably knew this, but just to be clear, you don't want to remove "radioactivity" from water. The water isn't radioactive. (Well maybe if the hydrogen were replaced with deuterium or tritium, but that's not the risk.)

You want to remove radioactive particles from the water. Like, a particle of plutonium that, if you drank it, could get stuck in your body and emit radiation into your body for years, likely causing cancer.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1421660

No, the filter will then be holding a radioactive particle. When you change the filter, you throw out the radioactive particle. Until then, if the filter does its normal job, it will hold onto that particle.

Filters themselves (paper filters, charcoal, etc.) and the water itself do not tend to become radioactive.
