Re: A rational question.......
I"ll try to answer your questions OP.

The genesis 1:28 question. Ok, understand that the original biblical texts were written in Hebrew and Greek. The old testament was written in hebrew and the new testament was written in greek.

Many different people translated these texts into english and sold their translations. That's why we have the KJV, the NIV version and many other versions. But, not all the translations were accurate.

To find out, you have to look at the original language it was written in, and look up that word for yourself. In this case, you're asking about "replenish". Well, the original hebrew word was not "replenish".

The original hebrew word there was this [link to concordances.org]

If you look at the link, it's pretty clear that the hebrew word was a verb means "fill" or "to be filled".

Whoever translated that into "replenish" really did a poor job there.......lol.

As far as the Bible is concerned, there is nothing that points to another civilization of humans before Adam and Eve. That is very clear.

Yes, the 10 commandments are God's basic instructions to mankind as how to act and live. I"m not understanding your question about the 10 commandments?

Here is some info on the word Elohim

Re: A rational question.......
I was born and raised in a VERY strict church environment.....I "rebelled and went crazy" I wanted as far away from "church/God" as I could possibly get! NOW YEARS later, I find myself turning to God for answers and help.....About a year and a half ago, I started studying the Bible for myself, I found things I had never been taught before and the more research/digging I do, I have so many questions that I am having trouble finding answers. I DO believe the Bible is the absolute road map, however, there are other areas that are "gray".......I think the smallest terms that have been lost in translation, have made a BIG impact on the "Christian" world. Now, before I continue, let me say......I don't profess to be a Christian, I believe that I am saved from the wrath that I believe will one day come, whether in my lifetime or in another lifetime, and I believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven.........HOWEVER, I haven't gotten quite that far in my "translations" LOL At any rate, I welcome any and all point of views to this thread....this isn't about an argument, who's wrong and who's right, but this is a thread for me.....I need to know places to look, paths to seek to further heighten my spiritual side......

Here is something that really, really interested me......In the book of Genesis...1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. UMMMM, look that word "replenish" up......and how about Elohim which is plural......and why is it that "Christians" are expected to obey the 10 commandments, but within the same chapter of the commandments, there are other "rules" that Christians say do not apply to them now?

I don't want you to come on here and say BS, and blah, and whatever, BUT I really am truly asking some questions here.....door

It does scare me because I don't want to blaspheme in ANY WAY shape or form! I want the truth and I don't understand why it is so hard to get!

Your next step on the path is to find out who the Holy Spirit is. Whenever you run across these words while reading, be sure to stop and read what it says.
