A purification apparatus made of banana peels can be used up to 11 times without losing its metal-binding properties, they note. The team adds that banana peels are very attractive as water purifiers because of their low cost and because they don’t have to be chemically modified in order to work. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1289608 United States 03/09/2011 08:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Book Preservation companies that go through libraries and oil the old leather books every few years use Banana Oil as their treatment of choice to keep the leather bindings on the old books from drying out, and have for over 120 years. The first time I was in the library in our town where they were doing that (when I was a kid) I was shocked at the smell and asked my dad what it was and what the people were doing. That was when I learned about the practice of oiling two and three hundred year old leather books with banana oil. I am not sure you would want to do that to your leather car seats (the smell is somewhat overwhelming), but having seen enough dried out and cracked leather car seats it might be better than nothing, at least on the brown or darker leather that wouldn't show the stains of uneven application of the banana oil. |
