IT'S BAAAACK: Active sunspot AR3088 has returned after a two-week trip around the farside of the sun. In August, Earth dodged a fusillade of CMEs from the explosive spot. Venus took the hits instead. The returning sunspot seems to have decayed since we last saw it, but it may still pose a threat for strong flares.

NASA suffered another setback in the ARTEMIS Moon mission program. The CAPSTONE communications sat planned to enter Lunar orbit has tumbled out of control. Even though comms were finally re-established, the craft has been placed in "safe mode". It's still tumbling....

from the article- The microwave oven-sized CubeSat satellite is now safely stable as scientists attempt to repair the situation.

"The combined mission team...re-established contact with CAPSTONE and reconfigured the spacecraft's systems to stabilize the situation while recovery plans are evaluated. CAPSTONE remains in safe mode and now is power positive, meaning that it is generating more power from the solar panels than the system is using," NASA said in an update on the project's website.

"While work is ongoing to diagnose the cause of the issue, the team is preparing CAPSTONE to attempt a detumble operation to regain attitude control of the spacecraft."

CO-ROTATING INTERACTION REGION: NOAA forecasters say that a CIR (co-rotating interaction region) could hit Earth's magnetic field on Sept. 17th. CIRs are transition zones between slow- and fast-moving solar wind streams. Solar wind plasma piles up in these regions, producing shock-like structures that can mimic CMEs and spark bright Arctic auroras.

"NO FEAR, EYES OPEN" is the exact opposite of what this dude peddles as 'science' on YouTube. He's making a fortune on clickbait videos and he's a proven charlatan.

Dr. Tony (NASA?) ain't much better. Cannibal CMEs and 'cracks' in the magnetosphere is complete hyperbole (BS to us common folk).

Space radiation ebbs and flows with the solar cycle. Hopefully flight crews are well aware of this. Vaccine mandates for pilots is much more hazardous than solar radiation. Our magnetosphere is very robust compared to other planets. Any fluctuations or drifting of the magnetic poles is natural. Humans can't keep the Earth or any other body from changing as God planned it.

A moderately strong solar flare in terms of peak X-Ray strength was just observed around AR 3098, now turning onto the west limb. The M7.9 flare peaked at 09:49 UTC (Sept 16) and does not appear to be very eruptive. Other than the brief radio blackout across the HF spectrum, no major impacts to our planet should be expected.
