Why is the lava lake rising?

I had the same problem, try to highlight and copy the web address while its running its endless loop and paste it in a new window...that is what I did.




Probably because the mountain slumbers peacefully for most of the time, and during that time the villagers enjoy growing their crops in the wonderfully fertile soil that volcanoes tend to have.

I live around 100 miles away from a stratovolcano that has been sleeping without a growl for hundreds of years, but her sister to the north (Mt. St. Helens) blew her top not long ago.

Life is a gamble.

Some of the pictures at that link are dated 2002. If a volcano had burried my village 3 feet deep in lava in the past decade, I would be looking for a new village.

This causes increased volcanic activity on the planet during the winter months of the northern hemisphere. When an Ice age begins these effects are increased and intensified making a positive feed back situation. And the more ice is laid down, the more sunlight is reflected out, causing yet another positive feed back cycle.
