There is evidence that magnet pole shifts have happened very quickly in the past. Sometimes the change is gradual like right now, andother times it happens in a matter of weeks or months. Research on dig sites in Utah have shown that it can change very quickly. The prevailing opinion is that during the shift, we will not lose the magnetosphere, but it will become very disorganized. Exposure to cosmic radiation will be erratic at best. With all that is happening in the next year or two, I don't see this shift being a long drawn out affair. I think it continue to move at the current rate for a while longer, and then something dramatic will occur. Be prepared just in case the experts are wrong (again).
