No it's not a cell, it's the house phone, a land line.

He sneaks the phone.

I do carry it with me most of the time.

But occasionally, I have to go buy groceries so we can eat, or I may go to the mailbox to get the mail, and sometimes I even have to go to the bathroom and I may forget to take the phone with me. And sooner or later, it has to recharge.

Sorry OP, every asshole on here telling you everything you already know. Obviously it's your fault, not the satellite company. EVERYONE should be able to call them and order programs that you will be billed for. Hell your neighbor should be as well.

If I call comcast over the stupidiest thing they REQUIRE the last four of my SSN to do anything with the account. That's to change, add, remove, ANYTHING on the account. Is that too much to ask of your tv provider.

I'm ordering some more channels and programming for you right now since even an autistic kid can do it.(<<--not a knock on your kid)

There is the argument that the call is from your billing phone number. Maybe, but does that mean even a guest should be able to add things to the account WITHOUT the bill-holder's permission. You're child is not in contract with them, thus does not have the authority to order this.

You said it was a Verizon phone, which is typically associated with cell service. So I asked and tried to clarify what if anything you'd done to prevent the child from having access to it. I believe that line of reasoning followed very well any and all definitions of "common sense" and it's application.

I'm assuming that DTV identifies the account by the home phone number associated with the account when it calls in via an automated process, which is common. Apparently you, or someone though, taught the child HOW to contact DTV via phone and how to order services. Autism or not, obviously the child is intelligent, so he should be able to understand the concept of "no, this is not acceptable, do not do this again."

I'm sure my kids could've done the same, BUT, I look at the statements, the same as I do their cell phone bills, and whenever anything looks out of whack or questionable I find out what it is and why. If the answer I get doesn't jibe, then they know there will be repercussions. It's part of my job to set any boundaries and then to "watch the fences" as it were so that they know that.

If they screw up though, I can blame them for being stupid or disobedient or myself for failing to do my duties to the necessary extent, but I can't blame "the environment" or the fact that "the apple was just hanging there".

It sounded precisely like that is where the gist of your post pointed. People, and parents that fail to accept responsibility and instead look to blame the world for their own failings and problems particularly aggravate me.

Can you disable all PPV on the account? If no then they use this as a profit maker, knowing that abuses happen and profit from them. Most people won't argue long enough to have the charges removed, which they should since the contract holder never ordered them.

kids these days are exposed to much more at a younger age then i was 15 years ago. such as in my time what was rated 18a is for the kids now 14a. i kid you not, its no wonder the kids these days get into trouble at a younger age, they have lost there respect for there elders and have become lazy with little or no ambition for work.

I fully understand the "parental responsibility" and DID my part. Everything to prevent such purchases was done. I followed their instructions. This is definitely a DirecTV FAIL!!

There system needs to be updated and there needs to be something implemented to assure that your ARE an ADULT when ordering adult PPV.

My child learned to do this by watching the DirecTV information channel. Ironic huh?

Yes, your kids can do the same. That's the point. You won't know about it until you look at your bill. And unless you raise hell with them, they usually only give 1 (one) courtesy removal! My son has made 24? purchases.
