Back online from Egypt!
Hi guys,
just a quick note that I'm ok, I haven't read any threads yet, needless to say I'm sure you can imagine I have many other priorities right now to take care of, not only online.

It was a very eventful couple of days for me, I don't even know where to begin, such a long story since we were cut off from internet.

So I guess I'll do it like this for now - you can ask me any questions you're interested in and I'll try to answer as best and soon as I can.

A quick personal message - I am extremely proud of the egyptian people that have stood up for their rights, refused to be intimidated by the Security Force, all the men that are protecting our properties and lives, staying out there every night. One can only be humbled by what they have done in the last days.

I am also behind the protesters to not give up, the military will not shoot, even if they tell you to go home. Mubarak is hanging by a thread and wants to try to hang on, if you allow it, he will try to regain power. Everybody agrees he will punish all those involved in the last days events, he will arrest, torture and even kill people, as well as any opposition leaders as we've seen. He'll be back to his old tricks. He must step down now!! All my egyptian GLP'ers out there, I hope you are fine, that neither you, your family, friends and properties got harmed in the last days from the Mafia.

Please only serious questions and be patient as I have many other things to take care of right now.

Peace!!!

PS: Thanks to all the people all over the world who have spoken out positively and supported the egyptian people.

Good to see.

I hope really hard, that the revolution won't get hijacked by the same old same old.
But the odds of that seem rather given.

Much respect to the Egyptian people, anyway.
Enough is enough - I wonder when my fellow Finlanders will wake up...

Glad you're back and i hope everything is ok for you! Watch Baradei. It is a power play. I hope for the sake of your people everyone is aware that this is a powerplay and they can see through this man's bullshite! Those who want power will do whatever they can to get it, and those in power will do everything they can to keep it!

Love to you!

Whats up!!!
But if at the Church they would give us some ale,
And a pleasant fire our souls to regale,
We'd sing and we'd pray all the live-long day,
And never once wish from the Church to stray.

Yeah Babsi, I was so worried about you. Glad to see you are safe.

What has your personal experience been during the protests?

Do you have food since the shops are closed?

Did you go through internet withdrawals?

What was it like to be cut off from the world?

Are you going to be staying in Egypt as I am assuming you are not Egyptian born?

Re: Back online from Egypt!
I applaud you guys for doing a tremendous job over there.

I understand you're busy now but maybe later on you can tell us what you experienced the last couple of weeks over there, what you are expecting to happen the upcoming weeks, and who you would like to see in power.

There has been lots of reports and speculation but i would like to hear the opinion from someone who is on the 'battlefield'.

Keep up the good fight ! thumbs

Re: Back online from Egypt!
A cousin came back to Canada last night from 6th of October city (teaching job).

A few things we were told was that the gov't (or police force) were the ones who set one grocery store on fire and that there are food shortages for the ones afraid to leave their homes. She left her key with the neighbors and is phoning them today to let them know that they can help themselves to anything in her apartment.

Have you heard anything similar, such as gov't/police force setting fire to (grocery) stores?

Hi Smilin' and hi everybody! I can't answer all the questions as I'm busy with the current events here, neighborhood watch, tv, talking with friends as shit is really hitting the fan now.

@Smilin' - I have stocked up on food sensing that something might happen, so I'm fine for the next 2 weeks.
I was pissed to be cut off from phones more than internet. My family in Germany was worried sick and no way to contact them.
I am staying in Egypt as of now - my Embassy has not called for mandatory evacuations, we're staying here so far. Although as I keep watching events unfold, I'm wondering when my phone will ring and get the call to bail out. I'm not sure though I will...I feel I should stay in support of my people here that have been looking out for me for the whole week. They risked their lives basically to protect my house and life. Will be a difficult call if that should happen. Although I have a responsibility towards my family in Germany as well...we'll see, I'm still hopeful this won't happen.

Thank you all for your support and well wishes. If you go to Janey's thread, you can read some of my reports for now.

Thank you so much :) I missed you ... now I have no time for anything other than this ongoing Revolution. Lets hope we get the outcome we are hoping for. I'm for Amr Moussa!! Baradei doesn't have enough supporters, he's respected and trusted to run a coalition government, but my watch goes on Amr Moussa, current Secretary General of the Arab League. Very good man! Unfortunately since I'm not egyptian I can't vote, lol, but that's the man I'd be comfy with here.

Welcome back Babsi!

All italians are with Egypt people... let them know!

An important question:

- Who's behind the pro-Mubarak uprising? They were silent for weeks, then all of a sudden they erupted in violence in the streets.
USA? Israel? Only Mubarak?

Thanks!

The Regime paid some people and also the security forces - evidence is there of people confessing to have received money and also arrested thugs had a security police force ID on them. Read janeys thread, lots of info on there.

Re: Back online from Egypt!
Thanks guys!

Seems I will have another sleepless night. Previous nights I was either kept awake from gun shots and/or glued to the tv and on the phone with my friends to check on them and to get updates.
