Re: Did You Know You Can Buy Seeds With Foodstamps?!
My current work trade situation is coming to an end and my new one comes with housing and utilities covered but no food or cash. So, I just swallowed my pride and applied for foodstamps to hold me over until I can get some cash flow and my new garden going.

The intake worker was the one that told me when I said I was moving to a place with a garden.

Too cool!

you should get some cotton seeds! then spend a couple of days planting them, then sit around all summer and wait for them to grow. then spend a few days in the autumn picking the cotton balls. then sell the coton--it's very valuable going for around $170 per pound!

Price: [link to www.cotton.org]

then, complain that this work is too hard and invite some hidious bearded small hat wearing liberals to come organize demonstrations on your behalf. then burn down a major thriving city like detroit. then have legislation passed giving you jobs you are unsuited for ahead of white people. then don't even bother to work those jobs. then just live in ghettos and committ endless violent crimes vs actully picking planting and picking valuable cotton. oh, yeah, one last thing, get a brand new escalade and complain about how whitey "be keepin'" you down.

(note: the foregoing was only a parody. no-one would actually ever do those things in real life.)

Its less than $1 per lb just guessing. Can you imagine the price of a pair of jeans if raw cotton was $170 per lb..

Seed Savers Exchange (and probably some others) sells only seeds that are open-pollinated, in other words you can use the seeds from your vegies for next year, no more packets!

Grocery Store Seed Viability
My grocery store seeds from SNAP (Food Stamps) produce viable offspring. I presume the FDA will spare satellite time to examine my microgarden.

Regarding GMO Seeds
I admit I am/may violate USA GMO copyright, if I live in USA.
My seeds produce adequate 'microhorticulture.

Seeds From Grocery Stores
If your intent is to learn self-sufficiency, store seeds from current crops before GMO domination.

EBT; Food Stamps; Seeds Purchased with EBT

Market GMO Seeds
Seeds in market vegetables are viable alternatives to packaged seeds. They grow like
any other seed(s). True, some are GMO, like most corn, beans and tomatoes.

True, SOME or most, corn or soybeans are nonprogenetors.
I bought a Cuban squash last year (they look like Pumpkins and are kind of expensive), saved some seeds and
successfully planted 4 seeds retaining other seeds for future.

Drying Seeds So They Last
Seeds are living, breathing, life forms capable of remaining dormant for long periods of time, germinating only when environmental conditions are just right for the growth of the plant they will soon become. If you save your own flower, vegetable or herb seeds, you can help increase their lifespan by following just a few simple steps. We’ll talk about the right way to dry and store your seeds and how long you can expect them to live.

Purchase Food With Seeds Inside
 Quoting: Sc 31486728

just so you know,

some things are trucked long distances for sale.

so, the seeds may grow,
but if the plant is too far out of it's preferred temperature zone,
it will never fruit.
examples; apples, cherries, peaches.

also; for those not on food stamps;

there is no sales tax on fruit trees or nut trees.
grape vines, ect.
even things like a basil plant or oregano plant,
has no sales tax.
