It looks scary on radar. I am worried for you all. I am happy to hear you are prepared. I could not get 'grandma' my mother to listen to me, but hopefully since she is in a retirement apartment complex she will be okay. I am guessing those folks will be higher on the list to restore power, but it's just a guess.

I just missed this ice storm here back in 2009, as I had temporarily relocated to Nashville, TN. A few days after the ice storm as I drove back up here, (insert word or words as I could not find any at the time), I was in awe. It looked as if a devastating hurricane had come through. Destruction everywhere (this scene lasted for weeks). Nothing on the road.

Mother Nature is one powerful force and NO, you do not mess with HER.

My prayers are with all of you and please be careful with that heater, but I am confident you know that.

If the freezing rain/sleet lasts until midnight who knows what will happen. I'll keep looking for more shelters near your area.

Thanks Fork. I'm concerned about the huge elm trees surrounding our property. If they go, 40 will be shut down for sure.

BROWNSBURG — If the impending winter storm warrants the need, the town will offer two emergency shelters. The emergency shelter locations include the Brownsburg Fire Territory headquarters, 470 E. Northfield Drive, and the Brownsburg Police Department Training Center, 75 Whittington Drive.

So far. I also have a sister in Kansas who texted me at 4 this afternoon saying she went to step out on the porch and the snow was up to her hips. She's 5' tall. Everyone is,wisely,staying in.
