So... Make sure you do some homework and get milk that comes from farms that do not use rBST hormone on their cows. Good luck. Quoting: JackWagonRemember MONSANTO is evil and they want to FUCK your ass up. I squeeze the family's from our goats - and the weathers are real tasty too (neutered males). Too bad more people don't have a few acres - it really makes you appreciate the meat in the store even though it would be best if it were local. |

Bonnie User ID: 1226736 United States 01/31/2011 09:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | FYI: Milk companies are allowed to print on their packaging that their milk is rBST free (this after much wrangling with the FDA). However, they must also have a disclaimer saying "*No significant difference has been shown between milk derived from rBST-treated and non-rBST treated cows." so don't let that confuse you. I found out that Lactaid does not use rBST growth hormone, neither does Stop and Shop milk have it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1247512 United States 01/31/2011 09:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | most of the milk in this country is now bst free. Most of the milk companies on the coasts require bst free milk and the largest milk company in the U.S. dean foods is bst free. Most of the usage is in the midwest were a good amount is made into cheese and powder which most of that is now getting exported. I am a dairy farmer in wisconsin and I have no problem with it I use it on my cows. Cows naturally have the same hormone in their milk and cows that produce higher production have more. the only difference is that I guess is that we are using a synthetic version. I beleive the anti bst hysteria on glp is from anti animal and vegan groups like peta ect. I buy the products that are not labeled bst free because they are cheaper and all of this is designed by the milk companies to charge more to the consumer and not pass it on to the farmer. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1151054there is not test to test the milk to determine if the cow has natural hormones in her milk or if the milk is from a synthetically treated cows and those cows produce natural bovine somatropin. The shot is designed to cause the cow to eat more and thus produce more milk. It makes me so mad that you all try to muddy the info on the hormone to try to get people to use less dairy or eat less meat. I give it to my cows I sell my cull cows for meat. I would say there would be greater amounts of hormones in the meat than in the milk. Of course the hormone is also a natural hormone so it is already there even in none supplemented cows. |

You need the hormones to help fill those out. :P.... Hormones also make females menstruate at an earlier age and a study was done, the younger a girl is when she starts the rag, the quicker menopause sets in, and the shorter she will live. It's usually pretty true. Weird stuff. JackWagon: ... could become as important of a disclosure tool as the Freedom of Information Act AND WikiLeaks. -Anonymous |

Quoting: dereisticBTW, who was the first guy to ever drink milk? Who knows. However, remember that most primitive cultures didn't have the same taboos we do. Children nursed until much later ages. Even now, in simpler cultures, most children nurse until up to age 4, and almost never wean before age 2. Also, keep in mind that many creatures will drink milk if it's provided to them. Cats and dogs love it. Horses and cows will drink it. It's clear that they smell something in it that says 'food' to them. The only real difference between us and cats, for example, as far as drinking milk into adulthood, is that we have the ability to acquire it, and they don't. Other than that... they're just as eager to drink it as many of us are. My cat gets some raw milk every day, and she loves it. She's also very healthy. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1250563 Canada 01/31/2011 10:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | From my understanding milk is only needed in the first years of life. That's it! A mothers milk is needed for that baby to grow quicker! Once this baby is a certain size and weight it stops drinking it's mothers milk. A calf stops drinking her mothers milk after 6-8 months. These are just some of the disease that come from milk. Crohn's Disease Asthma Early Sexual Maturation Early Breast Growth Diabetes Breast Cancer Colon Cancer Leukemia ADD or ADHD Prostate Cancer Osteoporosis Arthritis Sinuses Autoimmune Disease Lung Cancer Childhood Anemia Diarrhea & Constipation Big business treating all these diseases.
