Not the thrash metal variety, the subcutaneous anthrax... the kind that made me microwave my mail not realizing my new ATM card had just been sent to me until it caught fire...

Did you really nuke your mail?

I don't know if that will kill "the amtrak".

I totally nuked my mail... OH, and I also worked at an ad agency and I got my boss all paranoid. We got a package from someone we didn't know with our address c/o Los Angeles Times - we nuked it. It was a thank you gift from a client and the LA Times mention was a mistake. It used to be European chocolate and 2 gift certificates (1 for me and 1 for the boss) to Burke Williams spa...

Well it seems so real I can see it
And it seems so real I can feel it
And it seems so real I can taste it
And it seems so real I can hear it
So why can't I touch it?
So why can't I touch it?

Darling, don't be so hard on yourself. Obviously I am much much younger than you, but I'd still play!

Re: Remember When Things Didn't Suck?
Not really. I remember when the words polio, scarlet fever, german measles (in pregnant women),ect. Terrified parents. I'm even old enough to remember a great-grandmother of mine that had big pock marks from small-pox. There was a sanitoriom (sp) on the outskirts of our town that housed tuberculosis victims. (My aunt Ruby died there). Had another aunt that died of "sugar", back then diabetes was pretty much a death sentance....I dunno BIB. It all seems what our perspective is....My take on it is that life causes death, if that makes sense. A sense of humor is imperitive for every generation IMO. Even if it's gallows humor.

Excellent. There's a good sheep. Everything is alright. Don't question anything. Eurasia has always been at war with Europa.

Don't worry, the effects wear off...just like being drunk wears off. I don't want to not give a shit permanently. I like to not give a shit in moderation. So, tomorrow morning I'll start to question everything again. No sheep here, more of a wolf who knows enough to clock out of the doom and gloom factory early every once in awhile and Relaaaax. But to each his own.

Ok, non sheep. But I believe anything that allows us to forget, further strengthens TPTB. Imho, we should be awake 24/7. For while we are non compos mentis we cannot fight, hence the push for brain numbing substances on the population. To drink to oblivion is a good thing. To medicate to oblivion is equally good. But each to their own.

Having said that, continue your fight and I shall be by your side, along with millions of others, though they may remain unaware.

That was a friendlier response than I was expecting. Differing opinions around here tend to cause drama. You ended as I did, with "to each their own". I consider these words to live by. Best of luck to you.

Ah, another friend?

I am the most peacable person alive and respect each individual's choices. I'm glad I could surprise you. We are not all evil, hairy trolls here. Some of us are true human beings.

Smile each day at a stranger and see the smiles returned. Human kindness is infectious.

political correctness is a doctrine.... fostered by a delusional, illogical minority...... and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media; which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I srongly recommend you try it. You will never be surprised by the beauty of the human spirit. Expect the worst and your wishes will be fulfilled. Expect the best and, surpise, surprise, your wishes will also be fulfilled. We are much greater than we give credit.

So why can't I touch it?

Re: Remember When Things Didn't Suck?
I can't. One of my earliest memories was the Iran hostages, then gas rationing, then Reagan... Of course there was also the Cold War, New Coke, Pepsi Clear, SNL with Joe Piscopo, MTV taking a crap, New Kids On The Block, Bush, Olean, SARS, Bush II, 9/11, Tsnunami, Katrina, Anthrax, Surreal Life... I just don't know where to end this list.

I try but these ten years are waring down on my ass. It's always the hindsight, the way you don't know how to react when shit is happening...

I miss my country and sanity and common sense and morals and normalcy and logic.

Well, some of it sucked less than others. Or maybe it was just a less wretched or nauseating bite of that battered shit stick. Like you know, the late 70s and the 90s.
