Re: What separates Human Beings from the animals?
Consciousness?
Sentience?
advanced cognition?

Morality?
Advanced communication skills?
Physical dexterity?
Highly adaptable?

Or is it the ability to recognizes our obligation to all of life on earth as stewards of it? That separates us from animals. All animals exist for is daily survival, and for them there is no connection to history or the future. Man does recognize these things, and is cursed with it. Not only the realization of our own mortality, but the mortality of the universe itself.

We are the universe witnessing it's own existence, and all possibilities that could arise from it.

Deep shit.

Only one thing: accessorizing.
 Quoting: <JADR>

When you think about it:

Animals have language, you can teach them human language, Chimps & Dolphins are self aware, Penguins can walk upright, ants can build giant skyrise type buildings, whales have their own culture, bonobos have sex for fun etc...

But none of those creatures accessorize!

^^^This. Without opposable thumbs, we're just wild animals, with no civilization.

Scary that only one other person realized the obvious right in front of them.

...

Ego.
 Quoting: Socapatoy

Ego as in "I".
Sapience and consciousness of self.
Yes, that's the biggie.

I almost wish we didn't have that.

Being aware of your own mortality does some VICIOUS things to a being.

we are one, divided into many, some call it ego and some call it soul. we have the ability to see, feel, and the ultimate powers to change and decide.

we are the same, just experiencing life in different ways and that effects our decisions. that gives us the present enviorment we are currently in - even as i type!

sit down and think about it, we are as icy all puts it, observing the universe unfold around us. so what are we exactly? this goes further than time..it makes some people think why in the hell do we exist?

whatever it is, its beyond scientific explanation. i mean, science can explain but only to a point. the only real fear in mans heart is that there may never be an answer.

Koalas have 2 thumbs!

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

. The koala's five fingers include two opposable thumbs, providing better gripping ability. The first two fingers are positioned in apposition on the front paws, and the first three fingers for the hind paws.[11] The koala is one of the few mammals (other than primates) that has fingerprints. Koala fingerprints are similar to human fingerprints; even with an electron microscope, it can be quite difficult to distinguish between the two.
