What separates Human Beings from the animals?
Consciousness?
Sentience?
advanced cognition?

Morality?
Advanced communication skills?
Physical dexterity?
Highly adaptable?

Or is it the ability to recognizes our obligation to all of life on earth as stewards of it? That separates us from animals. All animals exist for is daily survival, and for them there is no connection to history or the future. Man does recognize these things, and is cursed with it. Not only the realization of our own mortality, but the mortality of the universe itself.

We are the universe witnessing it's own existence, and all possibilities that could arise from it.

Deep shit.

Maybe its the uncanny ability to completely destroy ourselves and our planet. Or that some of us have the desire to do so.

Seems my dogs have more love than most human beings. Hmmm. Oh, btw, all those animals during the major Indian tsunami escaped death by reason of instinct. Whom is the greater animal. Man or beast? Man lost over 200k Lives. Animals escaped mostly.

Re: What separates Human Beings from the animals?
law dictionary. Ballantines 1946 law dictionary defines HUMAN as: see monster.

MONSTER: lower form of man, barbarian, not of blue blood, un fit to own property, beast.

Let us not label ourselves as being human then.

You are alive, a bug is alive, what separates the 2........only perspective.
You work with what you have.
It is all any life-form can do.

Oh yea, then there is the genetic diversity thing. Each human looks completely different. Face, height, hair color, all of that such.

I mean even beyond RACE we all individually look so different.

What is with that?

Or is that just perspective as well?

My dogs may beg for certain things. However, there is nothing like my Golden Retriever lying down and throwing her head against my chest for love. There is a difference between need and love. And indeed, she protects me against strangers. I think dogs are far more in tune with things than we think.

Even though we look different, we're actually (genetically) very similar. In fact, you can find more genetic diversity from a single troop of any hominid species than in all 6.8 billion humans.
