Yeah, it should be "Huzzah!" Maybe Richard is using an alternate or older spelling.

My understanding is that this is a victory chant British soldiers used back in the 18th century. For example, after the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775, the Redcoats/Regulars gloated over their 'victory' (note: the Regulars got their assess handed to them later that day) by chanting "Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!" and fired a victory volley. While I cannot cite a specific case, I also believe the colonials may have used the chant as well...since they were still British subjects at the time and followed British customs.

I am unaware if the word has an earlier etymology, e.g., Polish or Russian.
