Another common name for the research into these mysterious items is "forbidden archeology." This article discusses 12 mysterious and strange discoveries made in archeology over the past two centuries that science cannot explain (at least not yet) and could turn our whole concept of history upside down. These items and locations are so mind blowing that most scientists and historians even refuse to speculate on what they could mean and most choose to simply ignore them altogether or dismiss them as hoaxes without doing the proper research on them. What makes the situation even worse with these items is that anyone who does try and research them are often shunned by the academic community and when any non-traditional theories are made (that don’t fit the standard historical record), they are quickly dismissed as “pseudo-science.” ...... ........ Thanks, very informative. |

Baghdad Battery. Quoting: Halcyon Dayz, FCDWhat's so unexplainable about batteries? Your ignorance is shown by asking such a question. Timeframe and context. 500AD was not known for demonstrating any knowledge of electricity... let alone the chemical know how of how to produce it. To put 500AD in context, this is the same year that they were: Fighting with swords, using bow and arrows, insisting anything and everything was a religious or superstitious matter, herbal medicine, alchemy. Most metal work was relatively simplistic even to the later eras. This was before the middle ages. You are proposing, a group of men, somewhere, somehow (despite believing things to have superstitious origins), concluded that, without any form of test device or generator, that electricity existed? And more so, that these same men somehow knew, during a time when they thought gold could be made from lead, the right chemical compositions, despite having no lab, and no easy means to produce the chemicals? Please don't use the battery as a post-hoc justification of this point, otherwise I will ask you how they found out, of which you will not be able to reply. Conversely, and not using the blog as a note, but providing the necessary historical backing, what purpose did the batteries serve? I doubt it would be for powering the world's first baghdad gameboy. |

CIGARETTE MAN User ID: 1232325 United States 01/16/2011 01:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I love how we've all been taught that humans from the past were dumb that all of them died in their 30's. Why is it when something odd is found science jumps right on it to say nope not possible. Wake up it is all one big lie. right so not one person during the construction of pyramids ever felt static electricty really? like they wouldn't have looked into this, but hey they knew about other planets WTF |
