You will be lucky if you are able to watch the moon !! BTW, you can't eat space !! Galileo saw Jupiter and the moons with something way before 1980. Anonymous Coward User ID: 923589 United States 01/17/2011 12:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Don't expect to see a lot with it, but it's a start...An 8" dobsonian would be a better choice since you would be able to see deep sky objects and you would have a bigger useful magnification for planetary observation. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1232461+1 I own a 16inch dob. That 60mm you just bought was a waste of money, should have looked at the sky thru a toilet paper tube instead. Telescopes are all about Aperture. |

Telescopes are all about Aperture. Yeap, aperture and some good and well aligned optics. I own a cheap 8" SW dobsonian and I wish I could afford a better one but it is a great entry level telescope. I am thinking of buying an equatorial motorized mount in the future in order to get into astrophotography too. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 10096912 Sri Lanka 02/03/2012 07:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | :D I bought a telescope, second hand. It all looks in good nick too. Quoting: Nothing is true It's a Prinz Astral 500 - There's a piccy of one here. It's a 1980's one, but seems to be quite well respected. [link to stargazerslounge.com] Does anybody have any experience with one of these? It cost me £10 btw. It's a nice scope made in Japan, manufacturer ist Towa, known for it's excellent optics (Meade sold Towa scopes in the early 80s until they started building their own scopes). Excellent optics, very few achromatic aberration, achromatic finderscope, machanical parts all metal, ... Better than any 60mm you can get today. It's good for moon, planets and brighter deep sky object. Learn how to set up and use the equatorial mount properly and you will have a lot of fun with it. . |

Can use for terrestrial as well as astronomical. OhYeah |
