Both have their up-side. I would go electric and get a nice amp that can emulate familliar sounds. Depending on your budget.... on the low end you can use a Behringer "vamp" modeling amp that copies a line 6 for much less money. I used to have a 2x10 model that definately sounded good for the money. It really all depends on the type of music you want to play. I like to rock so I like the EMG pickups but you may want something different. Just do a little research. There's a wealth of internet knowledge. GL
