Again, weird shit. I seriously hope I see this kind of thing again, and this time be armed with my mobile phone with which to take a photo. In regard to some other posters post, I wouldn't think that poking a ball of lightening wouldn't be such a good idea. :D Last Edited by Chapman_Baxter on 01/06/2011 01:17 PM "It's an inter-dimensional intrusion into flatland," said the vicar to the choir boy. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1029687then i seen a blue ball of light about twice the size of a basketball. it hovered at the window for a few seconds and just disapeared. was very strange In my case, the weather was basically calm, there were no storms as far as I was aware. It was autumn time and a bit cold but that was it. Blue ball lightening seems quite common from the responses so far, no-one seen white/yellow? Also, everyone elses experiences seems to tell of much larger objects than that in my own experience. "It's an inter-dimensional intrusion into flatland," said the vicar to the choir boy. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1208394 United States 01/06/2011 01:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have personally witnessed "ball lightening" which entered a squat at which I was living at the time via the chimney. It then hovered in the middle of the room for a good 20-30 seconds, with several witnesses all looking at each other and at the thing, going "WTF?" and such forth, until it exploded/vanished/popped out of existence. Quoting: Chapman_BaxterIt made no sound upon entry, but there was a faint electrical buzzing sound whilst it hovered. I still can't explain it, but I will never forget it. I wonder what wild and interesting explanations you can all come up with? pics or it didn't happen... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1219805 Belgium 01/06/2011 01:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I believe it occurs when lightning makes a loop and traps air in a plasma state inside a spherical, barely stable, field of radiation. At least, that's a vague memory I have from some documentary I saw years ago about this phenomenon. The radiation is the reason they can pass through glass and walls I believe. They disintegrate, but the energy and radiation pass through the wall, recreating the plasma-ball on the other side. Pretty cool stuff. |

Dunno, let's poke him with a stick...Here's what I'm talking about: Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. eLLizD User ID: 1063460 United States 01/06/2011 02:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My mother had the same exact thing happen to her in the 60's at the house I grew up at. Ok, what I'm about to say sounds kinda insane but this is exactly how my mom told it to me when I was a kid AND she did have some proof to show me when even has a kid I had a hard time believing it. Don't remember the year and unfortunately my mom died in 98 so I cant really ask her. Anyway I know it sometime in the late 60's. All this happened in a town called Pueblo in southern Colorado. She said she was just sitting at home croshaying which she loved to do when when, I cant remember if it was a rain storm or a hail storm hit. Regardless, it was extremely electrical. I remember her saying she was scared because my father was at work at the time and hard rain storms always seemed to spook her. Anyway, at some point she stood up to walk to the bathroom and this "giant fireball" (that's exactly how she described it) broke through the front room window, rolled though the living room of the house made a 180 turn right after knocking her out of the way and as she was falling to the ground she watched it roll out her bedroom window which was the room to the right of the living room. This ball knocked her out I guess and when she called the cops, my dad at work, and who knows who else. Anyway, when everyone got to the house the most interesting part was (besides of course two giant burning holes in our house where windows once were) their was a giant tree in the front of our house that I guess the fireball had rolled strait up when it chose to return to where ever it had came from leaving the tree with this giant gash like split at the bottom. The tree I refer to never actually died and when I was born in 1975 that split was still very much there. I remember my mother and father telling me this story when I was old enough to remember and all my child hood I could go out to my front yard and see this scar on the tree this situation left behind. Now before everyone starts bad mouthing the credibility of my dead mother, let me say that she was a baptist Sunday school teacher and the most honest person I have ever met not to mention every time she told this story to me it would make her blatantly emotionally distressed so I personally believe her. This is also besides the fact that I've never seen a tree look like this ever in my life. It was like someone took a giant scolding hot butter knife from the bottom of the tree and ran it up the base about 6 foot splitting the tree open like a banana. Anyway, there is my story, bash away. |
