Re: Snow from a clear sky
Yeah, I think the Sun's frequency has changed. Gone are the days of our big, friendly, yellow ball.

Now we seem to have an angry white Sun.

Odd you say white.
I have been feeling kind of crazy cause the sun light looks whiter?
anyone else?

Sun has been like this for almost 3 years now, blinding white. If you have some pictures you have taken, look to see if you think the sun has changed.

It was the drive home from work back in 2007, that i was blinded like the old camera light bulb flashes where you keep seeing the flash way after the picture.

Good to know more and more people are seeing the change in the sun.

some 2007 pics of the sun:

Last one here is more what I remember and this was taken in 2007 also.

I agree completely that the sun is changing and a LOT
People are not really noticing unless they are bird watchers or cloud watchers like me.

I myself have been taking photos of the sun lately and it is white, more intense and altogether different. Now I know this is not a scientific description but my own words.

For example, today it was 40 here outside today at noon. BUT I was able to sit outside with my dog and son with ease and comfort. The sun was blazing hot. Even my SIX year old son said "mom why is the sun so bright I mean it is winter right?"
I told him yes and I have no clue why it is so bright son.

Re: Snow from a clear sky
Infernal, have you read any on the boeing guys thread?
i was looking around GLP at the older threads and came across something in this thread that stood out.
Ever hear of the permafrost melting?

"There's a thread pinned on here right now about permafrost melting. That's public knowledge. Why it's melting when the temps are below freezing is not understood."
Thread: All I can say is, many of you are close !!!! (Page 6)

Now i am on a search to find out more about Global Solar Radiation and how it plays a roll in the permafrost melting at below freezing temps.

(if you google search "permafrost melting solar rays" you should see a PDF right at the top named "[PDF] Global Solar Radiation, Soil Temperature and Permafrost)

Based on what i have started finding, it would appear that a increase in solar rays from the sun is playing a big roll in our snow melting when it is below freezing outside.
Lots of searching to dig through, so ill post anything interesting and relevant that i find :)

That page link #6 didn't show a post from boeing guy.
I remember that thread however. 100+ pgs, I'm not wanting to read again however. Do you have the exact page you are discussing, or did I miss it on that page?

I have covered the spectrum variance changes from any light source, and the sun is one of those. After walking in front of a sliding glass door today,14 outside, I instantly became hot. Not warm, HOT. I went in closer and was coming from the sun(clear sky), and I couldn't even look in that direction.

Light spectrum carries many other properties within each varied spectrum. If there is a spectrum change occurring, that would explain those rays causing extreme melting conditions even under below freezing temps.
Our sun doesn't normally cause this affect, but could have changed enough to do it now. Light spectrum, even without feeling the heat can be heating up areas faster than the freeze can keep it under check.
When I walked by that door earlier, I was extremely amazed at the massive change in temp, not slight, massive. I went out for a few and it was cold as a well diggers ass. I expect some heat from that light penetration through the glass, but this was intense.
If it is clear in your area tomorrow check that yourself. Would love to know the end result.

Very interesting and quite possiable there has been a large change in the spectrum (could almost have it's own thread). I just checked my local forcast and we are to get snow everyday from now until Saturday, when it will be partley/mostly sunny. Great conditions to check this out in. I will make sure my camera is charged and do a video with it of what happens :)

I went outside for a few minutes just now. Clear day 12 degrees and snow is melting, but it is also snowing at the same time. Snow should not be melting at 12 degrees, and with no clouds there shouldn't be snow falling.
Took a pic with my phone to see if the light snow would show, and it does.
I'll upload the pic in a minute.
