Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1035843Btw its not good to expose such a bacteria to nuclear and/or biohazardous stuff It could get worse and combine with flesh eating bacterias.... Might be time to check in over at Chez Berzerker... Obamacare: Never has so much been taken away from so many for so few. |

Not oil, not steel, but the CARBON. Just what are humans made of???? didn't read the whole thread but it seems like you would be focused on the carbon aspect by now, not just steel.....just sayin' |

Or, can it be controlled ie: reprogramming? Since there appears to not yet be an antidote, are those infected by contact or by flu vaccinations doomed? It is a great plan actually. Develop a life threatening bacteria. Spread it in the Gulf. Count on the natural rain cycle to eventually spread it throughout the world. Then sell the antidote/vaccine to humanity. The question you need to ask yourself, is.....What will be the cost of this antidote......the mark of the beast more than likely. Submit or die. hahahahaha......mega doom........hahahahahaha Those that want to life(physically) will die(spiritually) Most people would gladly accept the mark of the beast if it means that they will not be consumed alive, by a flesh(carbon) eating bacteria. |

I read somewhere(?) that Ventner had programmed a kill switch into it, or had some means of neutralizing it, but, if it mutates, will it still work? That is the big question. |

It will take the new evolved bacteria ten days to kill you and death will be excruciatingly painful. Sort of like jumping in a tub filled with acid. Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Revelation 16:2 (New International Version, ©2010) The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly, festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. If you accept the mark of the beast, the vaccine you will die spiritually, as your cells will be replaced with artificially created cells. ................ Is it enough doom? lol |

This is an extremely important question for this research and as such has been a big focus for the researchers at JCVI, as well as the company Synthetic Genomics Inc. Building on the longstanding and successful history in molecular biology of millions of experiments engineering and using organisms like E. coli to conduct research, JCVI and Synthetic Genomics researchers will be able to engineer synthetic bacterial cells so they cannot live outside of the lab or other production environments. This is done by, for example, ensuring that these organisms have built in dependencies for certain nutrients without which they cannot survive. They can also be engineered with so called “suicide genes” that kick in to prevent the organism from living outside of the lab or environment in which they were grown ============================================= So there can be a 'suicide gene'...but still. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1042593 Canada 01/05/2011 01:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | source [link to www.foe.org] ========================================== Unfounded Reliance on “Suicide Genes” Despite the fact that “suicide genes” were explicitly described as having uncertain efficacy in Dr. Snow’s testimony, the Commission relies solely on these and other types of self-destruction modalities as the main form of mitigating potential environmental harm. In fact, one of the main studies cited by the Commission in support of using methods to create “suicide genes” is still in an early development stage and has not been field tested. Scientists who have studied “terminator technologies” in seeds have concluded that the process is never completely effective. They found that frequently occurring mutations allow organisms to overcome the intended sterilization thereby allowing those organisms to remain viable. Specifically, “suicide genes” and other genetic use restriction technologies (GURTs) represent an evolutionary disadvantage; selective pressures will lead organisms to overcome intended biological constraints. =============================================== |
