Funny experience that made me realize I NEED A GUN! | |

Quoting: Rex KhristosYou don't need buckshot for a shotgun for home defense, btw. Standard birdshot will suffice. Anyone that doesn't beleive, set a 2x12 plank as a target 10 or 12 feet away and shoot it with a load of birdshot--it'll blow it apart. Birdshot won't go thru walls in a home situation as easily as buckshot, so if things get fancy you don't have to worry so much about wounding innocents in the next room. To hell with all that. Advice from a bounty hunter friend of mine...reload the shells with gum drops. The stuff flattens to a plate of gelatin across the chest and looks/feels/acts like you got the sh!t slapped outta you by King Kong. Severe skin bruising and pain as much as your still intact nerves can muster. For all intents and purposes non-lethal. what kind of gun do you own...Rex? |

At close range, as in the case of an attacker, the Glock will do massive tissue damage which will stop the attacker in his tracks. You should be thankful living in a state like AZ! No need to register or get permission to exercise your Second Amendment right! I used to live in IL, now live in CO. I hated that FOID card I had to get in IL. Please Mr. Government, may I exercise my Second Amendment right? Not here in CO! Good luck to you OP! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1100381I think the Glock is great! It fits my hands well and I can hit targets at 100 yards with just as much accuracy as my friends can with ars. The only thing is it might be a little big for her lil hands. The scatter gun then maybe another one. |

Quoting: ~Azul~The cat is no longer a stray, you fed it, now it is yours. Yes, I've heard shotguns are good for protection. The kitty comes and goes, sometimes we don't see him for days at a time. He won't let us touch him. We do plan on trying to catch him and get him fixed. Is the cat broken? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1204681 United States 12/29/2010 02:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Buy a semi-automatic .20-gauge. Saiga, an arms manufacturer in Russia, produces one of these. They are expensive, but I'm of the opinion that they are by far the best home-defense weapon. Manageable recoil, a reliable action, and the fact you don't have to "rack" another shell in to the chamber. Unlike what other members have stated, you do have to aim a shotgun. The shot pattern for #2 buck is minimal if you fire down a hallway, or across a room in a house. It simply won't envelope an entire wall like some here will think. Target practice with a shotgun is just as important as with any other weapon. Taking classes is fine -- so long as you can do a little research on the instructor. Not all are the same, and not all really know what they're talking about. The most helpful thing you can do is practice. Go and kill paper. Learn how to store your weapon when you're alseep -- it should not be set to "rock n' roll" next to your bed. |

Quoting: Rev-boYeah, get a shotgun. Hurry. good advice. There r several hand guns that fire a .410 shotgun round - a little easier to handle. I have told people 4-ever - buy a gun - learn 2 use it - ur going 2 need it. Also, even though u don't need a cc permit here - go through the class anyway - it will help u understand AZ gun laws, |
