I started a donation annually, 3 years ago, when I started managing the apartment community I work at. We take donations for the local SPCA and take blankets, towels and dye free food for cats and dogs. Each year we increase with the quantity of our donations, but this year was the best so far. For each resident that adopts a pet from the pound or SPCA, we donate a blanket or towel, or bag of food in addition to what we collect from our residents.

Remembering the animals this time of year is very important and very rewarding :)

The shelters, for animals and humans, are overcome with need, and especially in these cold temps....if you CAN give, please do!

don't get me wrong, I have a lot of different animals, all of which I take very good care of, and treat better than my human friends.

I don't cry when they die.

I look at them as replaceable. If you don't, seriously, that's not my problem. this is the way I was raised, and it makes it a lot easier when it comes time to eat them.

And as far as the overpopulation, it's called spay/neuter. If more people (aka humans, aka animals) would take that responsiblity with their pets, it wouldn't be such a problem.

my rescue dog is a sweet soul we are his third and last owners.. the second was apparantly negligent after the first owner who trainde my boy well.. what a sweet akita!

i only want to give him the best last years of his life because they were gonna put him down except for the staff and rescue group who pulled him out of the town shelter and afte wanting him and being told no he is not adoptable he came home here with us ,, his last home!

donated an inflatable winter dog house and some food last year..
my boy sleeps inside and is a good dog

i give to the food bank but you know if you can gove to the kennels and shelters then it is grace as well

I brought back a dog from mexico, best dog in the world. When I lived there I was saddened by the way dogs were treated there.

How about helping the poor people who are freezing to death in the streets and starving!
When you do that maybe you can start thinking about saving house pets..gesh!

I used to volunteer for a group that made Sunday dinners for the homeless. I noticed that several of them had dogs. There was an area outside to drop off food and other items (blankets, toothpaste, etc.) for the homeless and, among other things, I always brought a bag of dog food. Many of the homeless had dogs and were desperately trying to keep their pets and best friends instead of taking them to a shelter.

After I did it the first time other people also started bringing bags of dog food besides just human food.

Bump for the morning crowd.

I prefer my animals with Roast potatos and fresh vegables...

That's not true. My cats are capable of at least 100 expressions.

My Wifes pussy is the same. I swear it Growls at me sometimes...

I ll go to thrifty stores and buy used warm blankies, cut them in 2 or 4, depending of size and take it to the shelter.
