Fed May Boost Debt Purchases with 600 + BILLION DOLLARS

Treasuries rose, snapping a three-day decline, after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said the central bank may boost purchases of the securities.

U.S. unemployment may take five years to fall to a normal level and Fed buying of Treasury securities beyond the $600 billion announced last month are “possible,” Bernanke said, according to a transcript of an interview on CBS Corp.’s “60 Minutes” program. U.S. consumer borrowing declined in October, economists said before a report tomorrow may show, amid mixed signs of growth in the world’s largest economy.
