No such thing as Thanksgiving Day in Australia.

Nor New Zealand, England, India, China, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, and anywhere else for that matter.

Who are you thankful for? Must be a bunch of turkeys!
We are but eternal spiritual beings living a temporary human experience.

LOL! This reminds me of the time (without thinking) I wished my friend from England a Happy 4th of July!

She laughed and said, "It wasn't so happy for us!"

Good times! lol

Turkey is really expensive down here - so we have resorted to roasting an Australian on a spit once per year. Tricky critters to catch, they squeal like pigs and taste a little like Canadians.

Re: For the Aussies..Post your Turkey Day Disasters Family Trauma Accidents and massacres
One year we drove a long way to Aunt and Uncle's place out in the boonies. On the drive home, five of six puked up their turkey dinners, mostly inside, and all over the sides of the vehicle. I guess the bird was under-done. The car always stunk after that.

'nother year, during the traditional post-meal hike of all able-bodied men and children(women mostly staying back to clean up), I fell off a log and through the ice into Spring Creek, in front of all my cousins. I had to run home fast. By the time everybody else got back, I was decked out in a pair of grampa's long johns. My country cousins roasted my city slicker ass over that one for years.

Re: For the Aussies..Post your Turkey Day Disasters Family Trauma Accidents and massacres
Christmas Day is our day to eat turkey and ham, if traditional. Many have opted for seafood in modern times, since it is mid summer for us, and too hot to cook.

Australia Day is our national day of celebrating our happiness at living in a great place. (Shame about our stupid politicians determined to destroy our once cool way of life.)

Can't recall any disasters with food or cooking, but have witnessed some great family fights over the silly season.
