Brief, this is heartbreaking. I can't think what to say other than I will keep you and your family in my thoughts. Also, I'm sending love to the loved ones of the little lad who died.

THAT IS BULLSHIT! Any REAL and WISE Christian who knows what they're talking about would realize that God is above all compassionate and forgiving. He knew this boys state of mind at the time he did this. He knew if the child was on drugs, or deeply depressed, or perhaps had been bullied at school for months on end, or any number of other things that drive young teens to end their lives. And because God would and does know what was in his heart, his mind, etc., until the moment his soul left his body, it's very likely that although 14, the child did not have the capacity to make this decision, or he may have set out to "scare" some friends or his parents and he went too far and died as a result of a bad joke gone really bad. We do not know, but our Father in Heaven does know. That boy is with his Creator tonight and he is forgiven for whatever prompted him to take this awful course of action. We see the tiny blade of grass. God sees the whole planet the grass blade grows upon. He knows what was in this child's heart and what may have driven him to something so grave and horrible.

Pray for the boys family. This is awful beyond my ability to think about what they must be going thru and the self-doubt and blaming themselves, etc. They will never get "over" it. The best they will ever manage is to deal with it daily until it begins to be somewhat less painful. But that may well take years. So pray for them. The child's soul is with God and he's forgiven. Anyone who tells you differently does NOt know what the scriptures really say about such things!

I totally understand you. Shoot, I know a man a lot like you. People think he's a prick, but he's really a very generous and caring man.

And it seems that holiday season is also suicide season. I hugged both kids last night so hard their eyes almost popped out.
But they know how much we love and cherish them.

Our oldeest went through a rough patch. I chalked it up mom abandoning her family, but we got that kid help STAT. We always know what our kids are up to and thinking and feeling. I hope.

That is no situation a parent or grand parent should ever have to go through.
Your friend is going to need help getting through this.

so sorry, we had a friend who lost a teen. the teen however was playing one of those sex games where you put a rope around the neck. he accidentally hung himself. his sister found him.

people do get so depressed this time of year. i hate the holidays because of this.

Actually, his "dad" is a drug user and he would make him promises that never came true...

But why is this season depressing? It never has been for us...

When I first got the phone call that was my first thought, and then I hoped it was an accident...but his feet were so close to the ground they said he should have been able to tiptoe and keep from strangling...if he had wanted to...

My sympathy Brief...Sad for his family and for your sons and you who involved him in your lives. God only knows how much that boy appreciated this.

Don't know if I should post as a professional, but one of the most disturbing things I have seen is parents who go into denial when their kid shows signs of serious depression because they feel it reflects badly on them. Yes, I have had to force treatment in some cases to save these children's lives. When a kid tells me he has plans to hang himself he goes to the hospital from my office. I take names and ask questions later. I have had one or two 'prominent' families try to sue me for this but their cases never got off the ground. After 25 years in the profession I don't kid around. Kids get depressed for all kinds of reasons and worrying about the stigma more than the kid may get you a dead kid. So give up the shame and take them for treatment no matter how young they are. The last suicidal kid I treated was six.
