Disciples of Christ vs. Disciples of Men - Biblical Christianity vs. Worldly Christianity

The true believer desires the praise of God, not the praise of people:

"But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God."
- Romans 2:29

"For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God."
- John 12:43

The true believer is instructed by God:

"No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me."
- John 6:44, 45

"And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven."
- Matthew 16:16, 17

And because of this instruction, the true believer will have an eagerness to learn the Word:

"Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
- Luke 10:38-42

The true believer will not only accept Christ's teaching, but will obey them, because of their understanding of His revealed truth:

"He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given... But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."
- Matthew 13:11, 23

All of these things taken into account will ultimately reveal a person's heart toward God. You shall know all men by their fruit, what tree they truly are.

"Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit."
- Matthew 12:33

(Be wary of false teachers.)

Brethren, do not love the world. Many professed Christians are of the world:

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat... Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
- Matthew 7:13, 22, 23

Therefore, love them not, as you would a true brother in Christ.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
- 1John 2:15

Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
- 1Corinthians 6:15

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
- James 4:4

Most have some biblical error in our understanding that is not perfect. The question is, after we discover said error do we change to correct?

BS. There's nothing noble or virtuous in loving our own kind - even the "heathen" do that.
