HOLE found in the liner of nuclear reactor building
MIAMI, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Workers at a Florida nuclear power plant have discovered corrosion and a rusty hole in the steel liner of a reactor containment building, authorities said.

Florida Power & Light said the defects at its Miami-Dade County Turkey Point plant, found Monday in an inspection while the reactor was shut down for refueling, had not affected public health and were being repaired, the Miami Herald reported.

The hole in the liner, [b]the first found at Turkey Point but the fourth in two years at nuclear plants nationwide, could compromise safety in the event of a nuclear accident, anti-nuclear activists said.

Barry White of the Miami-based Citizens Allied for Safe Energy said the reactors are showing their age.

"They have problems; there is no getting around it," he said. "This particular thing is just another straw on the camel's back."

The scary part is where they say the reactors are aging. This is so true!

Well it would sure be strange if they were getting younger.

Don't be afraid, doom will not come from offline reactors.
