Some jerk dumped a dog out by the airport where I WORKED ONCE,
THIS dog stayed in the area( a few hundred feet) for days until someone took him home. In spite of being betrayed
he stayed loyal. Saw this several times.
IN SPITE OF BEING FED YOUR DOG RAN AWAY.
Think about it

Check your local asian restaurants.
(be sure to look in the back)

Get a bunch of people out helping you look. Knock on doors, leave flyers.

Don't just call the pound; GO THERE. EVERY DAY until you find her.

Put up lots of posters & signs on street sign posts, light poles, etc. A photo helps.

Put signs up at vets' offices in the area, at pet stores, on grocery store bulletin boards.

Post on Craigslist, petfinder, and your local animal shelters sites.

Contact the nearest purebreed rescue group---I'm sure there's one for dauschounds--and ask them to alert you if they come across any info on your dog's prescence at a shelter or if somebody who finds her contacts them.

Offer a reward.

In case she was hit do call all vets. They will only give her emergency treatment and give her to shelter.

Then go down to shelter. This is most important. Don't just call. Go down to shelter(s) and look yourself. Used to work at one as ACO. When you call they look at a list and if some idiot listed the breed/desc. wrong they will say "not here" when it is.

If you are near the border of the municipality (city/county) be sure to check shelters in both areas.

In my state they only legally have to keep strays for 72 hours. That means that they will put the stray down after 72 hours. So go down there every day to look until you find her since you don't know what day she may show up there - on the first day missing or maybe the 30th day missing, or longer.

Also, some of the Nazi pet-adoption groups will find these dogs and do not want to give them back to owner since they feel if dog is roaming the owner is "bad". I had several cases of this where I had to go get pet from these groups and threaten them with petty or grand theft (depending on worth of dog breed). Some of those animal rights/save groups are crazy.

Another idea, if you have the money, is to put a display ad in newspaper with her picture - not just in lost and found in classified. I did this once and had whole town helping me look for my dog. We finally found him two weeks later.

Hope it doesn't resort to all this and that you find her today.

Before I even left work they got her - said she was filthy and her collar is gone ...

She's likely been gone for a while - she was there @ 8:30 but that's all I know.

She was in the woods between two houses down the street ....

That's her nose.

She runs with her nose on the ground and her ears flapping in the wind!
